... morning at about 4am so that gives us about 3 days to do the journey, we'll probably try and do about 400 miles tomorrow between us to try and break the back of it and then have a couple of Slower easier days after but we shall see!!! It very much depends on the traffic really and then we obviously have to try and get through the carnage at Calais without any immigrants climbing aboard!!! Doors and windows will be well and truly locked!! ...

... I wanted but they had already sold out so I ended up upgrading and went for the €67 tickets that were in the main stand up towards the corner.. After we'd for these sorted we decided to put the van in the car park right by the stadium for the day and then at least when the match finished sometime after midnight we could just go straight back to the van and get away obviously realising that it was going to be fairly busy but better that than having to go ...

We hit one fork in the road and had to take a chance on the direction, and while I think we ultimately chose correctly, we never did find the exact location from which to hike. We kept saying and thinking, "it's probably just around the next bend." ... The drive there was memorable enough, but the tiny village was spectacular, all ensconced within ancient walls and necessitating a hike down and up to even reach the outer gate. It made for some good picture taking.

Our flight was on a regional jet, flown by TAP's subsidiary Portugalia Airways. It was completely full, but we took off on time. It was a two-hour-plus flight, which coupled with the loss of an hour due to a new timezone, meant we didn't arrive until almost 5:00pm.
