After a good sleep in our air conditioned bungalow we had homemade breakfast and caught a 9 am shuttle from the campground directly to the Vatican. We soon learned from a man selling coverings on the street near the entrance to the Vatican that we would not be allowed in without first covering our knees and shoulders. He tried to make a sale, dropping his price from 5 euros per covering to 5 euros for the three would need. Emma did ...

Bit of an early start again today to catch an 8:30 train to Milan en route to Rome. Had breakfast on the train using groceries we picked up yesterday. In Milan we needed to get from one station to another in order to catch our connecting train to Rome. Easiest option was the Metro. Reluctantly we left our beautiful agri tourismo and headed down south today. We broke up our journey to Lucca by making a few stops at Modena. We couldn't drive through this town without stopping at the World Famous Ferrari museum. The boys were of course in heaven and Sebbi predictably tore around the place trying to climb in all the million pound machines but for Ella and I it was more a case ' once you've seen one fast red ...

... not able to capture any shots of the inside of the tower or the amazing views from the top. The stairway within the tower was entirely constructed from timber. The tower itself is wholly constructed from masonry with some steel cross ties. Quite surprised they open the tower to the public, given that it leans more than the more famous leaning tower in Pisa. I am sure I could feel it swaying as made the ascent to the top.

After burning off quite a ...
