... the Gothic Santo Domingo church and the beautiful Renaissance Basilica de Santa Maria. The latter was a very busy operation and obviously keeping up with the times. I had to chuckle at a sign on the notice board inside outlying how parishioners could keep up with church events through their website, Facebook, Blogspot, and even Twitter! I had a delicious lunch in the pretty Praza da Lena, which in days gone by was the old firewood ...
It was time for another of the Big Bads - Finisterre, so named because it was the westernmost point of the known world (at the time, obviously), on the Costa del Morte, which has a bad enough reputation to have earned the dramatic name.
We had less swell than the day before, thankfully, and it was behind us almost all the way, again thankfully, and with a sensible amount of wind for the first half of the journey we were making ...
... to Portugal (which only takes 30mins) we looked around an old fort and walked through the little village. Then drove along the coast then back over to Spain. We then drove up this hill (BIG HILL) and looked at a Celtic settlement. We then drove to a really nice sea front town. It's been such a lovely trip. Sun, sea, shopping and friends ...
We started the day with some wind surfing. Water was cold but far less rough than yesterday. Kim was still really sore from her vigorous run on Friday, but Alyssa and I took part. I was actually able to move forward later in the afternoon, in the morning we had no wind. But with calm waters I had an easier time learning how to balance on the board. Stew took regular trips on his wind surfer out beyond the bouys when he wasn't helping one of us. ...
... and it was very windy, but I gave it a good effort. Maybe more luck tomorrow. Stew cooked a fabulous dinner, fruit de mar, with seafood he purchased at the mercado! Did I say how happy I am we have a kitchen! We spent the rest of the evening walking around. Wandered into a concert near the port. Music was good. It only started at 10:30 and there was a four band line up. We stayed through the first band and headed back to the condo around midnight. I was ready for ...
