We had just enough time to purchase an indulgent round of sandwiches from James' favourite local deli before heading to the train station to catch the train to Jessica's home town, Danyang (halfway between Shanghai and Nanjing).
Jessica and her mother collected us and our enormous bags, and we were chauffeured for an hour and a half in air conditioned, leather-seat luxury, to a silk-duvet factory outlet shore, so that we could satisfy Margery's desires for a duvet that can be used all ...
Danyang, Jiangsu, China ianandfinola... When taking a boat trip along the long slim lake, I can see the golden sunshine sparkling on the water and feel the gentle breeze on my face----this is the very moment that I actually believe paradise does exist. Get packed and come to Yangzhou in the lively spring, to embrace and enjoy. I wish my pen,my eyes and my camera could capture the spectacular scenery.
Yangzhou, China taozi... t get a very good write-up in the guidebooks but we thought it was stunning and really friendly in a less leery way than Suzhou. The main attraction is the Slender West Lake which is a pretty park. Ge Garden was so lovely - almost as nice as Suzhou's Master of the Garden of Nets!
Yangzhou, Jiangsu, China rhian.ogorman... smokey and purpel night sky, the busy streets, the absent looks and sweet smells. One week in Hongkong (waiting for our long-desired and in germany apparently unatainable Visas) left little motivation to visit yet again another megacity, so we stopped in Guangzhou, more for tactical reasons. We stayed at Paul's place. Well, detailed description of the ocurred events would require better memory or less beer that night : ) so ...
Yangzhou, China laurenzo... me because his chinese name sounds like a plant..which is apparently a REED??? I have no idea..I've learned to just accept whatever they tell me and to play along.) Reed is a friendly enough kid...booksmart and speaks decent english. When we first me at the mine..Mrs. Z came up to me and said "I have a 15 year old son, he speaks english. In 2 months, I want you to come to ZhenJiang and my son will help you with your chinese, and you can help him with his english! You two can be ...
Zhenjiang, China lannycHey Hey and a Big G'Day toya, The plan was to meet Chung Ru and Xie Xiao Lin at one so I decided to zig zag my way slowly towards Jinshan Gongyuan where we were to meet. We all arrived pretty much at the same time and I paid my 50 Yuan entry fee. The girls had a 'Local Peoples' entry card that allowed them free entry into all sites in Zhenjiang. Now why don't we have that back in Australia? Local Peoples ...
Zhenjiang, China eddakath... down to rest and woke several hours later when Amigo and her friends called to say hello. She was with her High School friends whom we had gone to stay with. They had gone to Kaifeng to spend the day with her and have dinner at the night market.

How I wish I could have been with them.

After a shower I headed out to find a Net Bar and then headed into check out the night market. It really was awesome! Full of ...
Zhenjiang, China eddakath... 618 to 907). It was once thirteen meters high and now probably half that. The temple itself did offer nice views of the city and it was peaceful and nice but when compared to other 40 Yuan temples I guess it didn't compare. Unless we are talking about the Shaolin temple then this one wins hands down. For me anyhow but each must decide their own! After the temple I headed down to the promenade that runs along side Changjiang Lu and the Yangzi River ...
Zhenjiang, China eddakath... a panoramic traditional Chnese painting! Well....some of them do anyhow...maybe! The five pavilion bridge was having a face lift during my visit which was a real bugger as it looked like it would have been a great place to visit along with being a great picture. Fu Manor was also closed which didn't' really bother me that much ...
