Bodrum Peninsula, Turkish Aegean Coast, Turkey ronamaltzGetting to Koycegiz was a bit of a logistical nightmare, (I think from Selcuk - it was three buses!!) but I got there in the end. I stayed in a guesthouse that was recommended to me from the guys I stayed with in Selcuk and it paled in comparision - but possibly because I was only one of two people staying there. The owner was a slightly strange man and he had an 'assistant' who can only be ...
Koycegiz, Turkish Aegean Coast, Turkey travellingjenI was really overdue my holidays, finally getting to take it in October and I just signed up to two weeks of not doing much in Turkey with a couple of friends in a group. For me though not doing much isn't my cup of tea so I took every chance to re-live my old Turkey memories, from food, sights, sea, dancing and ahem, yes the men, again :)
Please come back soon as I update all the stories from the two weeks. Thanks.
... There have been quite a few places I have been and been grateful for the big and small things I am used to - whether it be a well prepared meal, a western style toilet or even just people able to speak English. I think the problem starts when an area actively TRIES to be a tourist haven.
In this case the local shops all stop trying to be pleasant shops of whatever culture or vibe they might normally choose, but instead try ...

I looked at the stack of unopened “daily quote” e-mails that I’ve been receiving from Abraham-Hicks.com. The one I arbitrarily opened read:
“There will be a time, not so far from now, that you will look back on this phase of your life and instead of condemning it or beating up on it... Instead of blaming or guilting, you will feel appreciation for it, because you will understand that a renewed desire for life was born out ...
... around. I got to go in first while Chris and Damien watched, but the guard was too alert for any subterfuge. It wasn't really a problem, as the baths were also a giant waste of money. I barely noticed the warm water, so busy was I dodging swirls of green goo and flaccid pink Germans. We wandered around the ancient ruins and in the early afternoon made our way to the Marmaris peninsula on the south coast.
Marmaris, Turkish Aegean Coast, Turkey davechrisdamo... definitely fun too. We did eventually make it to the waterfall. The trail was off a dirt road and it was about a 15 minute walk back to the secluded waterfall. There were no other tourists, just a number of local teenagers having a good time and jumping off the rocks near the waterfall. The falls weren't big by any standards, but it was pretty and it was a good swimming hole.
Over at the waterfall itself there were a fair number of fish jumping out of the ...
... materials quarry and manufacturing site.
I had no alternative but to bushwhack back down the steep slope, how far I knew not as there was a plateau area that obscured sight further down.
This is where I really had to take it easy. For, now into the later afternoon, I was tired and hungry. And, the sun was, while not close to the horizon, going down. I couldn't tell how much of this I would have to go through. Now it was the limestone rock, thorn bushes, and pine ...
... So nice to be in the ocean again and got us thinking about getting home and being able to head to the beach whenever we feel like it - not so easy in London. After a frolick at the seadside we had some dinner which was a civilised feed of hamburgers around the campfire - this time expertly prepared by Goose. This was the calming before the storm. Time for drinking games and we were introduced to Beer Pong ...
