Gold Coast

Got a coach the short hours trip down from Brisbane to Surfers. The sky is clear blue and it is full of the beautiful people. I booked into my studio hotel room on the 15th floor. Gorgeous views over the ocean and a lovely balcony to sit on and have a wee glass of vino in the evening. I I had dinner in the Hard Rock cafe which was nice but very loud. Wandered along the night markets and picked up a few bargains. I had to buy another bag in Brisbane as mine is bulging at the seams again! I wok...

From Noosa to Surfers Paradise

Temperature - 30dc Bites - 1 (im back to just one sand fly bite) Bumps/Bruises - 1 (stubbed toe) BrokenLimbs - 0 I wake up to my shrieking phone alarm which is cleverly tucked into my pillow case. I do an amazing Steve Irwin Crocodile catching lunge on my whole pillow thinking in my sleep that it would switch it off but I then wake properly to fish it out and switch it off myself. I get myself ready and out to catch the 8am shuttle to town (my bus leaves Noosa at 8:10). Its a tense, nervous r...

Lazing in Surfers Paradise and wall jumping

I woke up nice and early after a really long sleep in my giant bed with no earplugs and proper air conditioning. I had a proper cup of tea and muesli in front of the TV (in bed) and then showered and went out with a bag of clothes. The plan was to post the clothes home. The post office was packed and I queued to get advice, got my advice, filled the postal jiffy bag, queued again, got my customs forms, queued again, got given the wrong customs forms, queued again. It was worse than Borehamwoo...

Around Surfers Paradise

Lazy day today. Forgot to mention that yesterday when i went back to the room for lunch I left my book on my sun lounger - when I returned i learned that it has 'blown away' and all the pages had scattered over the pool area and into the pool. Some lady had kindly ran around after them and fished them out the pool and put them under my towel. I had to reconstruct my soggy book, must have been hilarious when that happened. More pool today and I finally got out and about and took some photos of...

Wet N Wild, Screaming Babies and Walking Barefoot

Woke up excited about my day at the water park, packed and left for the bus stop. When I arrived there were a million other people going my way. When the TX2 bus arrived, the pushing started. People eyed each other up as if readying for a gun fight and the surge forward packed us tightly into a blob trying to get on. Just then another TX2 turned up and a portion of the blob detatched itself (including me) and ran for the new arrival. That bus was almost packed and then a third TX2 arrived and...

Absoloutely fabulous

from A TripAdvisor Member
My Husband and i stayed here for only two nights after moving from a terrible hotel in coolangatta. WOW what a suprise this hotel was. We were upgraded for some unknown reason to the Royal suite on the top floor. It was fabulous; we really did feel like royalty. Regarding the previous review; well in november it is schoolies where all the kids who have left college from around Oz go and get drunk and party. Yes there are big groups of kids but there is a great party atmosphere. We did not have any noise from our room but i suppose with it being on the top floor we were not really that affected. It would probably be best to avoid schoolies if you are bothered about large groups of teenagers. The hotel itself was immaculate, modern with a great pool and a great location. I am Comparing this to the other hotels that we stayed in while in Oz which include the marriott at sydney harbour; this hotel was the best by far. We did not want to leave.

Awful Legends

from A TripAdvisor Member
We have just returned from a three week break in Australia, our final destination being the Legends Hotel, Surfers Paradise.

After staying at the Lakes Spa Resort, Cairns and the Star City, Sydney and agreeing with the favourable reviews, we were expecting a good hotel. However from the offset our 8 day experience at the Legends was awful!

We had booked two non-smoking sea view studios and were given one smoking non sea view room on the 8th floor and one non-smoking sea view room on the 9th floor. After pointing out to the staff that the rooms did not match our booking all they could do was tell us that the hotel was full and offer us a fan!!

That evening when my partner and I went to bed we were awoken at 4am by running and screaming children in the corridor, the noise continued throughout until 7am. The staff's explanation of this was that the hotel often takes large bookings of school students who are left unsupervised to do as they please whilst staying amongst other guests.

The following evening we again had problems with the noise, this time it was not that guests were overly noisy it was just the poor make-up of the rooms. The walls of the rooms are paper thin, so all manners of activities can be heard and there are large gaps under and around the doors meaning light and smoke easily come into the rooms.

As my parents had the same problems on the 9th floor, I cannot blame these problems on just an unlucky one-off. I was also disappointed with the staff's attitude of ignoring our problems.

Overall I would avoid this hotel at all costs, I have stayed at many youth hostels so it is not as if I have overly high standards.

On the positive side I would like to recommend the Fables restaurant on the ground floor of the Legends. The food was exceptional, good value and well presented by attentive staff.

A GEM IN SURFERS

from Jordan123
we have just arrived back home after spending ten nights at this hotel, everything was perfect. We recieved 5 star treatment and i would give this hotel 5 stars well deserved. The rooms are spacious, we had a studio with wonderfull views , it was immaculate and clean to a high standard with room service every day.The position is great across the road to the beach and not much further to a great shopping center. Also a fantastic number of fabulous restaurants and take a ways in the vicinity we tried them all.The best was the spannish restaurant across the road opposite the supermarket sorry cant remember the name.To say this hotel is in such a good position as its quite central it was still away from the hustle and bustle so you got a good nights sleep. We will be back next year.

Lovely Legends

My Wife and I stayed at the Legends Hotel, Gold Coast for 5 nights in October 2005. The Hotel in general was very nice, clean and modern with a lovely pool area. The staff were all helpful and friendly for our whole visit.

We stayed in a Studio King room which was also clean and modern. It had a proper king size bed which was super comfy the pillows were also super comfy. The bathroom was again clean and modern, and did the job, the room aslo had a small kitchen, with hotplates, microwave, dishwasher, sink and mini fridge. The air conditioning was great, it could be set to run all night and was not loud at all, there was also a balcony with two seats. There were no loud pipe noises ect during the night and could not hear people from other rooms, the room was also service every day. The other great thing was having an underground carpark for free which comes with all rooms, we found that very helpful and when the car park was full on saturday night and was closed, they parked the car for us free of charge.

We had the buffet dinner and breakfast once from the hotel restaurant and it was pretty disappointing for the price. Nothing seemed very fresh at all, but there is plenty of other great cafes and restaurants around the area, all within walking distance. Cavill Ave is just a short walk up the road and is great for shopping and eating and has a great night life, nothing seems to close on any night which was great. The beach was beautiful and was a direct 2min walk from the hotel.

All in all for about $AU 140 per night it was a great hotel to stay at that did not blow out the budget.

Lovely Hotel

from Tiawamutu
Lovely Hotel. Room ready even though we arrived at noon. Excellent facilities in studio room, with sea view.

Staff very helpful and friendly.

Excellent location close to the beach and shopping area.

Only downside was restaurant, as this was seafood, which is not to everyone's taste (if you pardon the expression) But plenty of places to eat near to the hotel.

Overall: Great Hotel, and would definitely stay there again..

Just ok

from A TripAdvisor Member
This hotel is just ok. The other reviews on this site are far too positive. The rooms are tired and small, but clean. The pool is not large, just small, and the sunbathing areas again not great. For the price charged, the hotel is not really good value for money.

Love the pool!

from A TripAdvisor Member
If you plan to soak up the sun, then this hotel will give you the best environment to do so. This pool is HUGE and looks amazing. I had 4 splendid nights there and spent most of my hotel time in that pool. I don't know if you're allowed to, but we ordered cocktails and drank it in the pool. Definately relaxing.

The rooms were average, nothing special, but the views from your rooms are amazing (if you get the ocean view ones).

Diner there was average at a very high price so I recommend go across the road to the thai place located in the aegean apartments for a worthwhile dinner.

Location cannot be faulted and since there's a more secluded part of surfer's beach just 2 min walk from the hotel, we didn't feel like we had to walk 3 blocks to the main part.

I would definately stay there again just for the cocktails in the beautiful pool.

Very nice

Good location - slightly quieter end of the Surfers action, yet under five minutes walk to shops and beach. Average size but very comfortable rooms. Good facilities - great pool and good fitness room. Room service breakfast was especially good value - nice selection of pastries. ;) Would use again.

Great Hotel

Great location. Some nice vews. Most importantly, the rooms were clean, staff were friendly, and it had a nice pool. I would definately stay there again, provided the price was right.

Legends by Nature!

from A TripAdvisor Member
We recently stayed at Legends Hotel, and were suitably impressed! The location is fantastic - it's in the heart of Surfers Paradise. It's only a 2 minute walk to Cavill Avenue, and about a 5 minute walk to the beach. There are plenty of restaurants along the Gold Coast Highway, so we were never starved of choices when it came to meals. The hotel itself is great - quite glamorous, but laidback at the same time. The outdoor pool is surrounded by tropical plants, and a cascading fountain. Eating breakfast beside the fountain was so relaxing! We stayed in an ocean view room. The view was stunning, but you could only enjoy it from the full-length window beside the bed. If you wanted to step out on the balcony to take a look, your view was obstructed by the bigger hotels and apartments that were closer to the beach. The balcony actually faced the side street, and there wasn't much to look at. Except for the terribly exciting construction site across the road. ;-)Still, that aside, I would definitely recommend this hotel to people looking to stay at the Gold Coast. I rate it 4 out of 5.
