... the known. Turned out alright and even though we hadn´t seen our bags for a couple of days they managed to make it to Equador as well (I had no fair this would actually happen.) So after 3 flights and then a 2 an 1/2 hour bus journey we touched down in Montanita. The bus journey was pretty eye opening. I never expected the degree of poverty to be so prevelant. It seems to have two things very much in common with Indian, rubbish absolutely everywhere and a complete lack ...
Montanita, Ecuador escapingthenhs... This was duly granted and the next thing you know we were being chased around the toilet block by 2 dogs! The rest of the night was pretty uneventful after that.

yesterday, we only had to cycle 45 kms to get us to the coast. Just when we thought the climbing thing was all done with .......... more up and down. We had breakfasted in Portoviejo and dave had made an urgent visit to the local mall, having first ****** off a security guard for ...
Manta, Ecuador 50oddWe arrived in Montanita one day after the full moon party so our first night was pretty quiet as everyone was hungover from the night before. The beach is really great here.. it´s a surfing town with lots of Gringos and restaurants with proper food - there are no Ecuadorian restaurants at home for a reason! Don´t ever go to the vegetarian place....we actaully aged while waiting for the girl to come over ...
Montanita, Ecuador michelle_russ... as in other Latin American countries. By the way,Ecuador has adopted the U.S. dollar as their currency; surely made it easier to determine how much things are worth. We did visit a home, as described above, and little kids were there with their hands out wanting a dollar. Ecuador is the smallest Spanish speaking country in South America. Our next port will be Panama day after tomorow.
Manta, Ecuador philfran1033... The oyster ceviche that night made it all worth while. I left Bahia the next morning; a planter, a gardener, a fisher, a hunter and a gather. Post Script On the way back from Ramones, we caught a truck leaving from the beach. Per usual, it was filled to the brim with people of all ages and we were barely able to squeeze in for the ride. As the truck climed the hills heading back to bahia, the motor started faltering, kick´s and puffs abound. We were out of gas. We weren ...

Montanita, Ecuador elinolsennalum... Church sits at the tallest part of the town. It has a very impressive presence in the small town. Here weaver prepare palm leaves for the hats and weave the strands into the hat. All of the weavers that we saw were women. They place the material on small poles, leaned onto the poles, and let their hands fly. It was amazing as to how fast and accurately they performed their task of weaving hats. As the day was moving along into afternoon, the ...
Manta, Florida, Ecuador danharriet... hostel "Montanita" or something to the like cost $15 a person!!! So Liang and I decided to go hunt for a place cheaper while Stacey and Sahara stay put with our gear. Liang and I looked at various hostels for 20mins and decided on a hostel that we managed to get down to $7.75/person and was close to the main street. We went back to get the girls and checked in without issue. We went out that night had a few drinks and laughs with some Ecuadorians that gave us ...
Montañita, Ecuador stylingdukeAfter over a week in Montañita, Jess, Charlie, Alexi, and I decided to leave and head up the coast to Canoa. It was a spur of the moment decision and therefore we headed out a bit later then we probably should have, which we discovered once we were informed of our route, which involved a bus to Xipy Xapy, another bus to Manta, another bus to Bahia, a boat to San Vincente and another bus to Canoa, our destination. By the time we arrived in Manta it was already almost ...
Manta, Ecuador courtenay... awesome...had our tents and hammocks ...super fun. Its really great that the guys from the kitesurfing school here (ecuadorkitesurf.com) do so much with the students from the school, it would be probably bit more boring if not for them. My camera broke yesterday, I think something just has happened to the battery and it is impossible to turn it on ....and of course in this corner of the world there is no way to buy a batery for Canon G9 ...
