... we took a matatu to town. Matatus are the local mode of transportation throughout much of Africa. I could write an entire entry on my experiences in matatus. They're basically small vans identical to a VW bus packed with up to 20 people at a time. While they drive there's a person called a taut who hangs out the side door yelling the matatu's destination to try and collect passengers, and people jump on and off as they need to.
