... is totally in love with our hostel balcony. As well as serving cheap drinks and wholesome food it has fairy lights, candles, plant boxes, a fire, plenty of seats to relax with some like-minded travellers and a pretty awesome view of The Old Town (possibly better than the top of La Basilica).

We´re booked to head to The Galapagos Islands tomorrow (we have plane tickets but nothing else) and are pretty excited about it. We´ll ...
Quito, Pichincha, Ecuador tramps_like_us... the cheapo material was making G's hair stand on end with static. Uruguay won deservedly in the last minute and having endured another long bus journey as we thought it was going to be a carnival in the capital we went home a bit disappointed.
Bought a excellent copy of Series 2 & 3 Family Guy on dvd on the way back for 2 quid to help cheer G up :-)
Mindo tmrow for Cloud Forest antics.
P&G
Quito, Ecuador peterandgillian... up to the Teleferico Qo, which is apparently one the longest cable car rides in the world and the 4th highest. It starts at just under 10,000 ft and reaches almost 14,000 up the Pichincha Volcano! The views are quite stunning, overlooking the whole city and surrounding areas of Quito, though like many of these things (and a good excuse for my poor photographic skills) pictures don't ...
Quito, Ecuador fruss... to the boat and we got ready for our first snorkelling excursion, just off Devil’s Crown, a volcanic rock formation nearby. We saw heaps of colourful fish, including parrotfish, triggerfish and surgeonfish. Towards the end of our time in the water we came across some sea lions lazing on the top of the water, just like they were having a snooze! After lunch everyone scampered to their cabins for a siesta, which was quite funny. I don’t usually like to have them but I was ...
Quito, Pichincha, Ecuador sarzmc... I just want to note the radical change, or relevance, participant observation holds, if not excluding the possibility of an essential human nature – The belief that by participating one may possibly feel the same as other participants.

A final note

I shall return to the above matter introspectively on a later occasion. Yet now I am at the end of my first blog contribution. For you who made it all the way to here (and yes I know it was long and hopefully not too tedious ...
Ecuador, Pichincha, Ecuador niller83... eateries (we DON´T recommend the $2 burgers), a few exhibits about local art, history and science, and a train ride. The main attraction, of course, is taking photos straddling the equator. It´s like four corners, only better!

Of course, for a few extra dollars, you can go inside the monument to enjoy both the view and the wonderful ethnographic museum inside. Also extra was the planetarium ...
Quito, Ecuador nathangie... manos," and I was so amazed by what he said, because it was true. I began to dance with my hands and that was when I really felt free.

I also took a Spanish class; my instructor’s name was Daniel Paredes; he taught me new phrases in Spanish, like,¡Chuta! (don’t worry, this probably is an equivalent of shoot!). It’s another story if you add “madre” after it. He asked me about phrases in English. I ...
Quito, Pichincha, Ecuador fulana84... to me on this trip, along with being worn out from the lack of sleep the previous night, allowed me put my guard down. Was the bus company really closed on Friday morning, doubtful. I think he took me to the wrong building because the closed office he showed me was not the bus company I was looking for. Was the border nearly as sketchy as he (and I) made it out to be? Clearly not. I should have walked away from that taxi long ago. It´s hard for me ...
Quito, Ecuador mhutto... but a more traditional form of remedy. As we arrived, we saw caged animals; consisting of rabbits, kittens, chickens, guinea pigs, and pigeons. All were alive and looked panicked. If you were to hang around long enough, it would be easy to see why. Asking the seller for one of them would prompt them to slit the throat of the creature in front of you as the animal was sold! The fresh killing was as much for
medicinal reasons apparently as well as for maintaining ...
Quito, Ecuador atullgupta... if we could just to a cafe, she obliged and it was quite nice. i have a mochachino. my new favorite drink. as anyone that has travelled to south america knows, the coffee sucks. they export all of it, so that i can drink peruvian coffee in the states but not in peru. so sad :( so tonight, me, ricarda (german girl from my room), marco (italian boy from the hostel) and steven (ecuadoran boy from the hostel..i know, an ecuadorian staying ...
