... DV Manor is one of a few luxury hotels in Vijayawada and luxury it was. The hotel stood on seven floors and had its own 24hr restaurant, bar and shop. The room itself was something that we had not been used to. The king size bed stood opposite a desk with chairs with 8ft lamps. ... at least an hour longer than expected wherever we go and today was no exception. We met Becky and Hannah at their campus at Ghantasala Mandal, Krishna District and had a delicious lunch with them. We haven’t got used to eating with our hands so it was a good experience for all of us. ... and so I made sure I did all the sorting including haggling on the price for two rooms, one with three beds. He continually answered the phone while we were talking, cleared his throat making the most disgusting noise and barked orders at me constantly so no pleasantries there and we were pleased to escape to the Minerva Coffee Shop where at least we got a few smiles, dhosas and chips for supper and one of those hair raising tuk tuk journeys that always cheers you up.

Wow! What a busy few days we have had here! Not much new to report, except that we have wrapped up our training, attended our last staff meeting and morning assembly and have gotten most of the networking infrastructure set up. We'll have to wrap up the finishing touches tomorrow, but we are feeling pretty good about the job we've done here. Thanks for all the comments, everyone! Good to hear from family back home while I am here in India. I haven't been updating this thing ...

Tuesday- More Training

... came to visit us. One was selling lace cloth items sewn by local villagers, the other was selling wooden artifacts imported from the Kashmir region. I purchased a small wooden endtable for 500 Rupees (about 10 dollars). I still have a few rupees left for purchasing snacks from the shop here on campus! We sat down and looked at the items, and one of the staff members bartered on our behalf. It was a very interesting experience! I have posted ...
