    ... For example, we bought a local walking map that Rick used to get us from the Meg Rivers cafe back to CC along the Heart of England Way.

    I have no idea what it was all about really but it seemed to be a combination of an Australian Education Week Open Day, May Day festivities and some kind of fancy dress and fancy float competition, with a whole bunch of truly tacky and horrific rides to finish up with.

    Day trip to the Cotswolds, with the highlight for me being a stop at the little town (Bampton) that stands in for the lovely village of Downton in the bespoke British class series Downton Abbey.     Stirling once again thanks Malcolm for looking after him when he broke his finger here earlier in the tour and tells a story, mimicking Malcolm's very broad West Country accent. One of the local characters finishes the evening off with a couple of bawdy jokes and involves everyone in a sea-shanty whose words we will never remember but the fun of the evening we will never forget.
