... and fluffy, a toffee with hazelnuts and peanut butter or salty caramel ice cream. Thanks again to Sous Chef Alyn Rees again who patiently has allowed me to try and retry this maneuver. The end result it pretty awesome in appearance and quite tasty as well! As an aside all the ice creams served at the Gilpin Hotel are made in house. They are rich and creamy and a match to the best Italian gelato!

Wow! Only 2 weeks before we leave. Thought it might be good time to start posting the preparations. Actually over dinner tonight at Keswick Binny suggested it so these are especially for you Binny! We maybe away for 6.5 weeks but the actual preparations have been going on now for about 6 months!
So we have a file full of info and booking details etc.....as you would expect there are many, many lists which will be required over the coming days and weeks! ...
A quick wander around the town then we were off towards Scotland secret bunker at Troywood. A former military bunker which was HQ of operations had UK come under nuclear attack during the Cold War. ... then trekked on into the mists, making our way to Angle Tarn. The climb then got seriously steep. Reaching The Knott just seemed to take forever. The loose shale and rock pathway, typical of the Lakes, didn't help either! We had a bit of a breather there, then headed on to Kidsty Pike. It was 1230 when we got to the top. The wind was cold and the mist swirled around us. We found an old stone sheep pen just below the summit to shelter in, took our packs off,and had a bit of lunch. The ...
