What a fabulous morning we had. The breakfast at Lingwood Lodge was wonderful, a made to order cooked breakfast and a large pot of tea! After breakie we checked out and went for our bush walk up Orrest Head. We had to drive the short distance to Windermere itself and park near the start of the walk. It took about 20 minutes up a well marked track to get to the top of the Head. We had a beautiful 360 view up the top. We could ...

We headed out to The Albert for dinner and once again enjoyed a pub meal with lots of locals. There were the clackers (I think) who wave something to frighten the birds into flying, then the shooters aim for them, then the people with dogs (Labradors this time) who are highly trained, and respond to their owners' individual whistles and retrieve the grouse. What a scene. Our ...

We then headed out through the village and back to South View. The walk wasn't all that long but the spa bath was much enjoyed.

    Tuesday 9 September – Windermere

Another sunny day so were very lucky. We walked The Coffin Trail with Barry. At first I was a bit concerned that the name might refer to where people ended up at the end of the walk. But no, it is ...
