A beautiful river

... to other bars to watch the match. We didn't hear any more cheering, shame as the atmosphere earlier was great.

It continued to rain throughout the night and in the morning. We decided it wasn't worth staying another day - we might as well move on to another place and be wet and miserable there. So we took the midday HW swinging bridge. Once we got out of the river we really felt the strength of the wind - it ...

... as it was too much bother carrying both that and the camera by the end of the day, I'll upload some once I'm home) we headed back into town to find a patisserie to get the obligatory baguette for dinner and cake for dessert (tarte tatin for me and a chocolate caramel tart for Jonathan) and started the long, long drive home. They date back to a time between 5000 and 3500 BC and covers around five or six areas throughout the village. At least a couple of the sites are called alignments because for some unknown reason, the stones are laid out in perfect straight lines. Who knows the reason for this? We certainly ...

Unexplained Rocks

Today we traveled to Carnac, on the South Coast of Brittany, another pretty village. This town lies in the centre of the world's greatest concentration of megalithic sites. The region is full of neolithic menhirs, dolmens, cromlechs, tumuli and cairns (AKA standing stones!). The heaviest weighs 300 tonnes and they date back to at least 5000 years BC - which makes them ...
