Today continues our drive through the Eastern Townships to get a feel for the countryside in Louise Penny's books. North Hatley is just up from our Manoir at the top of Lake Massawippi. The general store is the first inspirational building. There's also a peculiar boardwalk jutting out at an odd angle just after the bridge. Following route 108 to …

We opt for late checkout and wander around the old town of Quebec some more. Then it's off to the Eastern Townships which is a surprising distance away. My trip to Vermont was a little getaway for myself after barely taking ...

A nice campground after a 4 hour drive through Montreal - mostly easy driving, which is good, because we didn't know how much twisty, windy, up and down we would face the next day on "La Route des Sommets", and after crossing the border into Maine!

... had breakfast at the bistro Louise Penny said was the inspiration for Gabriel and Olivier's B and B. Because of the duck fete the dining room had too many tables crammed in, but it had low ceilings and a fireplace, not lit in this heat of course. Afterward we walked over to the bookstore. The owners are good friends with Louise and they sell a few goodies in her honor. Then it was time for our road trip to find ...
