Destination # 2 - Bangkok! I loved the food, place, climate and the people were so warm. I especially loved the dried grilled squid that matches with soda in a plastic full of crushed ice! yum! I love Ayutthaya... more more temples! I was amazed at how they were able to preserve the temples. The place was simply breathtaking! Also nothing beats Chatuchak - the bargain haven of Thailand (just like Divisoria in Manila). Love it here! if only I was not worried about having an excess baggage I co...
Bangkok, Bangkok, Thailand deypotI have arrived in Asia! I arrived in Bangkok late Friday night and met up with my friend Anne at the airport. I started typing this thing up as a minute-by-minute account of my days here, but I realized that: 1) it took too damn long 2) the entry would be so lengthy that even I wouldn't care to read it 3) it's boring So instead, I'll try to capture the experience in sections: SCAM ARTISTS On Saturday, we started the day by walking around the area near our hotel (around Silom Street). Our plan...

Here is one we saw in the market, I loved that Faygo bottles were used to hold the incense.

Of course we just wandered aimlessly, picking a row and heading down it. We kept our eyes out for gifts or things for ourselves, but mostly it was ...

Needless to say, I ended up in Burger King later but not before another night of drinking along the Khoa San in which we got talking some Californian girls who recommended the Southern Islands and then later a chirpy pair of travellers called Jozef and Tutu. Jozef is German and Tutu is Israeli and but they had met the day before and decided to travel together (there was a time when that ...
Bangkok, TH.40, Thailand haz14It was no fun seeing my sister off, but I felt very lucky to have had a whole summer to spend together. I know it was a scary endeavor for her to be gone from home for so long. But reflecting on all that she experienced -- exposure to another culture, language, food, religion, and way of life -- hopefully made it all worthwhile.
Bangkok, TH.40, Thailand linzstoker... the heat and humidity from outside found its devious way into the rest of the room causing the air conditioner to work over time and spew out volumes of water which naturally tumbled onto my unsuspecting back pack. I was not amused.

I had no intentions of spending any more time in the room then I had to. I scrambled together my day pack and hustled outside and down Sukhumvit Road to a restaurant which had been referred to me in Phuket. The place was called Cabbages and ...

Bangkok, Krung Thep, Thailand astoreonline... from Sydney to Bangkok. When you hear one flight attendant rush up to another one saying "You need to come and sit down immediately, this is really bad" combined with images of the flight scene in Almost Famous and the rumours and theories that were arising from the recent Air France disaster, you can imagine how a very nervous flyer was feeling a bit uncomfortable with life at that point! 10 hours and 4 movies later I finally arrived in Bangkok. The trip I was never totally ...

Bangkok, Thailand traveller64446The flight from Chiang Mai was easy, however the airport in Bangkok must have been busy. I could feel the plane slow down and we flew around in a few circles. I landed in Bangkok and immediately hustled to check in for my next flight to Khon Kaen. I was cutting it close! I had to hurry through security and down to board the flight. Off to Khon Kaen!
