Not having a casino makes this a wonderfully quiet and intimate hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Convenient location.

... destination was Bishop, CA where we would crash with another very good friend of ours who is also a fellow Yellowstoner (surprise surprise). We got into Bishop with just enough time to meet our friend and go for a short bike ride before the sun fell once again. The pilot points out Boulder City in the distance which was developed to build Hoover Dam. It wasn't running to schedule so they banned drinking and gambling in the town (gambling is still banned there) and the Dam project ended up finishing ahead of schedule. We are soon ...

... the proper time! At 5.20 we were all belted in and our way wrapped in sleeping bags, ready to sit on the rim of the canyon and watch the sunrise. It was simply stunning. With the stars fading and the sky lightening, we were treated to an actual sunrise, with not a cloud in the sky. The sun rose from behind the far rim of the canyon, lighting up the entire chasm before us, revealing the deep fissures in the canyon little by little. Before our eyes, the rocks changed ...
