The bunk across the aisle was occupied by a couple from London so we chatted on and off during the trip. It was the first long trip I had with English speaking company so that was nice. Got to my hostel around 9 pm and got a quick snack at the street barbecue nearby then went to ...

We didn’t really want to take an overnight train in the first place, but since all the other trains were booked up, this was our first available opportunity. In hindsight, a bus is much quicker and is likely worth the wait, but if you are forced on to the overnight train, either go with a soft sleeper bed or one of the lower bunks. The top bunks were just way too hot and cramped for any sort ...

    learning chinese tones,
gives me and my dad nightmares,
    and tutors torture.

    the squat toilets here,
    olfactory assassins,
    give quadriceps cramps.

    my picky sister,
    goldilocks, princess and pea,
    craves a burrito.

    my poor, poor mother,
    showers me with compliments,
