The following weekend, we took her on another long distance bus ride to Guangzhou. We became champions of power shopping on Beijing Street, jade market, tea market, and fabric market. We went on a last minute trip that the school arranged and paid for. It was a tour that included the bus, tour guide, hotel and food. The only problem was that the tour guide did not speak very much English, so we followed people around and relied on some younger people to translate a little Chinese for us. It was a lot of fun! ... evil practical joke on someone who had just lost everything or a deliberate form of sabotage to stop me from getting out of this nightmare situation. How could I get a passport without cash? How could I get cash without a passport? And more importantly – how could the consular staff be so apathetic about my circumstances? ... a street. It was a spit that resembled getting gyros or el pastor, full of pork chops and pork belly. They cut off chunks of pork and mixed it with cumin and some spicy seasoning with lettuce and the pork juices. Then it was placed on a bread that looked like an english muffin. It was pretty amazing. We had about 5 of those. We have a long weekend this week and wanted to go back but everything is booked because it is a holiday. Instead we are going to Guangzhou. So more pics for that ...
