So, when I rescheduled my flight with Gulf Air, i had to get business class. Long story short, I am currently at this amazing lounge in Bahrain (which is close/similar to Dubai) hanging out with all of these super rich Arabs. I didn't want to pay for another withdrawl in Egypt, so I didnt eat for 28 hours, hadn't showered in 3 days and then I got on this ...
Bahrain, Bahrain brianburkhardtOut of the widow Bahrain looks like lots of dust with skyscrapers on. Inside it is a strange mix of Christmas decorations lots of tour groups who look like they might be going on pilgramage, 25k rolexes in duty free, mcdonalds, costa and free internet to keep us amused. We've got 2hrs to kill - body clocks already out of sink! Am going to try and learn some nepalese from a podcast.
Bahrain, Bahrain paulandvicki... it was then that I realized: I loved the desert (deep down inside), why then did I not think of making this trip before?! The bus began to accelerate and we were soon on the Riyadh highway. It was all night, and I could see cars zipping ahead. We went on for abot 200 Kms and the driver decided to make a stop at a highway restaurant. All got down, some to stretch their legs, others to grab a bit/a cool drink, or simply to take a walk around.
Soon, we were back on the ...
... No."..."Then you're not French!" I really enjoyed talking with her and I think she did too---probably nice to have short return to normalcy and to be treated like a human being by one of her passengers, not treated like the face of the evil Yemenia airlines. For me, she was the first girl I had talked to in 5 days (except for a "Hi" to the marketer at the Saudi plant). Despite wearing a hijab (head covering), she was actually fairly cute. She said that this was maybe her third ...

... would voluntarily do without it). It turns out the dry cleaner here is wonderful; they interpreted my instructions and had our clothes ready at the specified time. When I went to pick up our clothes (parking on the sidewalk, of course), I noticed that our order was easy to spot. Just about every other item hanging up was a long, white robe (thobe, as it is actually called) making Michael's blue dress shirts quite conspicuous. In the US, we have ...
Manama, Bahrain elizabeth7901Great flight to Bahrain! It was pouring rain when we left London - even London is sad to see us go! hahah! Our flight was virtually empty. Well, cattle class was anyhow. LKJ & I each had 3 seats to ourselves! Yay! The airport at Manama was so busy when we arrived. Buggery Bullox! Paullie sent the customs man to come and ...
Manama, Bahrain missfissy... souq recreations" in Dubai. And much of the urban and suburban housing is in shambles. Furthermore, another difference is quite evident here, the Shia majority. I knew I was in a Shia quarter of the city by the Black Flags and posters of the Iranian Ayatollah that checkered the buildings walls. The Ayatollah is virtually a god to these people, and the admiration they have for him is ridiculous. I question their loyalties, if they lie with Bahrain ...
Manama, Bahrain midtowntsl0... My last day in Bahrain was very productive! Sleep, eat, pool, tan, eat, fly! Sighseeing wise all i saw was the Palace on the way to the Airport, but didnt mind at all we knew we would be back. For our last meal we went straigt to the English pub for a drink and a meal just to top off the weekend, then it was back tot the Airport 2 hours prior to flying for our 29min flight home. Sad and tired we arrived back in Doha, already working out when we could book our next trip!
Manama, Bahrain kimande... know is that no mater how he felt about the 9/11 attacks, I know for a fact that if he refused to sell them, his boss would fire him. I knew for a fact that he had nothing to do with the attacks. I did not consider him the enemy. The final thing he didn't know was that even though I am in the military, and ultimately our job is most often viewed as the obligation to take lives, MOST OF US view our individual job as protecting life. My aircraft does cool stuff, and I am proud to ...
