Never have I reeked of such a potent blend of a life-well-lived. The jokes then began to fly. The twenty minute cottage cheese, rotten fish, and boiled cabbage bus ride was over soon enough. A heavenly delicious meal was had in town and a long, heavy sleep followed in the luxuries of Motel 6.

... the campsites dont tend to have power.We also had to register the van in san fran, so had to go to dmv (same as dvla) the queue was so big all the way outside we were there for 3 hours! Phil really wanted to go to alcatraz so we went to the pier to get tickets, to find out it was fully booked for about 3 weeks! we were so gutted, i could tell phil was really fed up it ruined his day. ... on their own in the middle of the vastness rather surrounded by other empty buildings. Empty buildings are more liable to ghosts. Unfortunately you can't go into most of the buildings but you can see through the windows of the houses and shops and peer at the remnants of lives and the possessions that were left behind. Gary could have spent the entire day here roaming with his camera; in that morning he took 90 photographs.

We were going to aim for the nearest town that we spotted on the map but luckily we checked the Lonely Planet that warned us off it. So we headed on for an hour to Lone Pine, the site for a number of western movies (not featuring Julia Roberts) and found a cool motel there that had put up some of the movie stars ...
