Having passed through Nadi in transit to New Caledonia I was not holding out much hope that much was going to have changed. I'd really not liked it at all, horror stories of thefts (in and out of hotel rooms), seedy feel and leery men.

... homes and their church, in 35 degrees heat with one fan and no air con. But this didn't really matter as we were only going to be in there to sleep. ... Very painful! One has to suffer for one's religion! All the Fijians we have met have been incredibly friendly. The staff at the hotel can't do enough to make your holiday perfect. The local greeting is "Bula" (Hello) and called out everytime you pass someone and they will stop and ask about your holiday and make sure your happy. ... plane was just taking off. It looked really fun, something we'd like to experience one day! On the beach the staff were singing a welcome song and dancing for us which was nice.
