11 Wasa Wasa Road Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji
The pace was then to step up a few notches as I returned to the main island of Viti Levu staying in Smugglers Cove for a night, before joining the Feejee Experience (guided tour bus) for the next 4 days. Picked up at 8.15am on our lovely green bus - where two of the lovely ladies I'd met at Oarsman's were also on board - hurray! There were about 15 of us on the tour - fab group of friends for the trip ahead! Day 1: Nadi to Mango Bay! First stop was Nadi markets & shops where I bought a su...

... secluded and there isn't really anything around so we decided to head to one of the small islands for a 4 day trip. We went to Robinson-Crusoe island which is a small tropical island you can walk around in 20mins. Every day there were a bunch of free activites and shows. The staff were all Fijian and really friendly and fun. We were greeted with a traditional song to welcome us to the island. We ended up meeting a few more people who we got on really well with and had ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji liam8... in a circle holding hands behind our backs & pass a stick around the circle from pair to pair. The pair holding the stick when the music stops is then out. I paired up with my friend Kelsey until Adam, the lead 'bula boy', grabbed my hand, dragged me to the front of the group & declared that I was "Charlotte, the best dancer in Fiji' and that I was his partner! We started the music & Adam did everything he could to cheat us into winning the competition. We dodged the ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji dixie87... tubing and lunch we went Pacific Harbour and stayed in Uprising Beach Resort. From the moment we got there it was a disaster. We wanted a private room but we were told they had none but they had also run out of beds in the dorm so half an hour later two camp beds were brought into the already cramped dorm and I was given one of them. When we got into the dorm the first thing I heard was bed bugs! Not something you ever want to get in your bags or on you. It continued to rain for the ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji annemarie.demp... After an hour of a very bumpy ride on slightly rough seas we arrived on Mana island. The weather had been a bit wet and overcast on the mainland but once we arrived to "the driest island in Fiji" the sun was shining and the island looked like paradise. The resort is owned and run by the locals and the accommodation is in their village. There was no power in our rooms from 9am to 6pm each day. It was lovely. Once we'd settled into our room we went down to the ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji alandrach... tourist' hat on and you realise what a passionate and fascinating people they are. Their sincerity and optimism in the face of what remains their very turbulent homeland is inspiring. 3) Go snorkelling over the coral reef. This was my Fijian highlight, after being unceremoniously dumped in the water by the local guides, who then promptly sped off several hundred feet away into the distance, I was lucky enough to paddle my way through ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji davewhite88... of the Pacific made us one day younger- forever losing a day of our lives. We arrived early in the morning to a warm and humid Fiji. While we were waiting in the customs line, a friendly Auzzi man named Peter who had a twelve hour lay over and invited us to join him on a road trip across the island to the capital city of Suva. We agreed and after checking into our hostel minutes away from ...
Auckland, New Zealand spelkebroz... me before I leave for the more temperate climate of Europe. After leaving the pretty Southsea Island I joined the Seaspray sailing boat. This boat trip is an all you can drink and eat cruise around the islands. I was feeling rough so I didn't take advantage of the endless supply of beer and wine which was a shame. Stopped at the small island where the Tom Hanks movie Castaway was filmed. I found some shade under a few palms on ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji christosp... to swim in and so we passed the morning swimming and sunbathing. After lunch though, we borrowed snorkelling gear and boarded the glass-bottomed boat again for a trip out to the reef. We stopped first to feed a shoal of blue fish, then jumped in and attempted to teach ourselves how to snorkel. After a few trial runs and a lot of swallowed sea-water, we had the hang of it roughly and could enjoy the amazing corals and colourful fish which (to my surprise) were ...
