          Indonesian independence day

A travel blog entry by ayc17 on Aug 16, 2015

... and we found out that the Monday was Indonesian independence day! We timed it well! It will be 70 years since the country freed itself from Japan's army. Exploring the town was an experience as there are no pavements and the roads are so clogged getting around takes 5 times longer. Jeans Street was hectic and the standout memories were the very badly designed statues on top of shops, for example Rambo was on top of ...

... than we had found in Sumatra.

Finally, the last day of our six-day block of riding came, and it was an interesting one. The morning was absolutely spectacular. Most of the early riding was off-road on an incredibly rough track with lots of loose rocks and gravel, but the scenery was stunning. There were tea plantations in all directions, with volcanic mountains as a backdrop. The tea plantations are so immaculately maintained that from a distance it looks like topiary, and ...

You will pass by schools , bump into school children crossing the road , heavy traffic ( quite usual in Bandung town )

As compare to Jl Braga at night time , it was merely pubs and night club frequent by locals that doesn't look so decent and a handful of tourist frequenting the only chinese restaurants there. I thought it was some sort of backpackers road but proofed that I ...

... pour boiling water over him, when I seemed reluctant to do this they told me to bring him and luckily it was only 2 minutes down the road. The hospital was pretty basic, with the added extra of poo on the floor and they spoke little English. They didn't really tell us what was wrong but they charged him 10 pound for their time and some vitamin tablets. Must have worked as he hasn't been ill since. I think it was probably due to him trying the volcano water!
