    ... to rent. As it was a public holiday the only place open was the information centre and even they closed at 5. Instead we ended up borrowing Marielle's sister's and flat mate's bikes. The only downside was that Lisa had to get a lift there on the back of Marielle's bike- another Dutch adventure! We biked through Utrecht city and the surrounding countryside for about 4 hours.     ... briefcase with his computer.......leather coats......all left. Truly grateful.

    Managed to navigate the car to our new abode and unload. Fortunately we'd also negotiated to rent our landlords secure car space (not included with the apartment) at a nearby location. After that, the process of contacting Europecar, police etc began.

    We didn't make it to the film festival that night but did find a greek restaurant with amazing roast lamb shoulder.

    ... so many bucks nights and boys nights and even a hens night rush into these humble establishments forking over cash. We couldn’t bring ourselves to do it and so we settled on a “Peep Show” which was 2 Euro for 2 minutes and we kind of got what we needed and all parties felt satisfied. Afterwards we head to a bar and grab some drinks before hitting the sack in our double bed.

    ... air, before retiring to our hotel for a well earned rest. We were departing the next morning from Schiphol airport, which is where the ill-fated MH17 had departed from just two weeks earlier. The tragedy was really brought home by the floral tributes and Australian flags laid outside the airport entrance, as the Dutch prepared for their National Day of Mourning the next day.     ... hour for Anne Franks house, wandered through the red light district and caught the 10:30 train back to Utrecht! As the sun doesn't set before 10pm, you really can be out and about until quite late. For example, the Anne Frank house is open until 9:00pm.

    Another day was spent in Rotterdam and with a map we set about doing a self guided walking tour. It took us all day but we saw the cube houses, the maritime museum, the stunning harp shaped ...
