Dro med lokalbuss fra San Jose til Monteverde. Turen tok 5 timer, hvorav de siste to timene i et spektakulaert landskap paa en like spekatakluaert daarlig vei. Gjennomsnittshastigheten kan vel anslaas til aa vaere ca 15 km/t de siste tot timene. Etter hvert som vi narmet oss Monteverde saa fikk vi en klimaendring I form av mer og mer regn og vind. ... This afternoon we took the jeep/boat/jeep shuttle from the volcano to the Monteverde Cloud forest. It was great to not have to sit in a bus again. A public bus ride would have been over 9 hours because of the rough roads. Instead we sailed across the lake and made it in 3 hours. Yay for us! Our cabin for the evening is right on the beginning of a nature trail throught the forest. We are lucky to be able to go out there mornings and scout for animals.

Left for Monteverde early the next morning - and while I´m on that topic I have to say all these early morning travel days really seems to go against the grain of being on ¨vacation¨. But somehow I doubt I´ll get a whole lot of sympathy from you 9 to 5ers stuck in the snow belt. Vanmorgen (maandag 21 mei) zijn we vanuit Alajuela met de bus vertrokken naar La Fortuna, die was een reis die een paar uur in beslag nam. Hier aangekomen, werd ons een redelijk betaalbare cabina aangeboden, genaamd Jerry´s, hier zijn we heen gegaan, maar ze is niet aan te raden ...

... van Costa Rica ligt. En dan zijn we weer terug bij de witte Nikes in witte sokken onder de korte broek, de Hawaii-shirts, de honkbalpetten en het verbale geweld... Wij hebben vanaf een boomstam urenlang met stomme verbazing zitten toekijken hoe busladingen vol toeristen in een heuse file het overvolle parkje binnenstroomden.
