Friday 14th May - Perhentian Islands to Kuala Lumpur Up at 6.30am (after a night kept awake by scratching - ant bites we have decided) had breakfast before catching speed boat back to the mainland. Plenty of taxi drivers waiting to take us to Kota Baru airport. The taxi we had was about 20 years old with no hadles on the back door to open the windows. When we enquired about this a handle was produced from the glove compartment. Derek's window opened but Sue gave up with hers. Luckily it wasn'...
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia derekrussell30Leaving the Cameron Highlands on a luxury bus, with wide seats and comfy foot rests we were half way down the mountain when we blew a tyre. However, the driver continued driving because it appeared that we had 9 more! It was a windy drive down and one that I didn't enjoy on a flat tyre. At the base of the mountain we stopped to have it repaired (what else?) and finally arrived in Kuala Lumpur. We are staying in the heart of chinatown at the Malaya Hotel. It is a bustling, crazy, noisy part of...

"I'm sorry, I can't find your flight to Bangalore" said the lady at the check-in counter at Melbourne Airport. It seems that after we had bought our tickets, Malaysia Airlines decided to cancel our flight from KL to Bangalore. Of course, in their striving for quality customer service they neglected to inform us of this fact! As it turned out, I got a day to poke around in ...
Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan, Malaysia nps1... Indonesia, and 1 Palestinian. A fun little college apartment.
The next morning Michelle took off early and Jimmy felt ill so we set off to explore the city ourselves. The downtown area is filled with little temples and quiet shops. It’s a really cute city, but pretty small. We saw a few Buddhist temples and a Hindu one. Nothing that really compared to the giant ones we saw in Singapore. There were also some great antique shops which we spent thousands at and ...
... behind a food cart praying he wouldn't turn around. I stepped to the right and glanced round the cart. Damn he was there waiting. Coming out from behing the cart I carried on and thus so did he. Walking down the main road I could still see him 30 yards or so in front. Coming to the pedestrain crossing he practically gave me Army orders "come now." he said.
After another minute I spotted a laundry. Buggered if I'm walking for another 20 minutes ...
... a completely different direction and you want to go with them? You are tied down by a flight back... so dont book one... leave your options open it makes life easier in the end
Tip #7
Feel the vibe in a place... if you arrive somewhere and hate it or think it stinks typically it will stink even more 5 days later so leave before you detest the place...
Tip #8

... in South east asia. Bought a watch too, 4 pound for a Tag Heuer. Bargain.
Next day we went back to the twin towers early on to get a ticket to go up to the skybridge. We got there just after 9.45 (it opened at 8.30) and our ticket was for 5.15. So we had a day to kill as such. One of the things you will notice about KL and malaysia is that they love shopping malls. So we went to one called times square. I thought that the twin towers one was big. This onewas ridiculously ...
... is a gift to Malaysia and maybe all of humanity. I actually can’t be too specific because I was so emotional that I started tearing up. After the video we were pumped and ready to see the bridge. They shot us up on a jam packed elevator and then gave us 15 supervised minutes on the bridge. It sort of felt like visitor hours in a prison. We were watched the whole time and confined to a small area. After enjoying the pretty decent views we went back down ...
Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan, Malaysia sarahandhanan... safe to assume not her last. returned to our room - that has the same view as the pool, plus a full kitchen - to get ready for pre-dinner cocktails, dinner, and finally more rooftop luna bar enjoyment. the high life is nice. defo a great way to end the KL experience. tomorrow it's off to the airport; leora starts her journey home and I head off to Penang for a few days to harass all the PMC folk!
