The warmth. graciousness, resolve and attractiveness of young and old has completely surprised me. We have now completed our meeting, said our tearful good-buys, and will fly out to Moscow tomorrow noon all goes well. I will be staying on in Moscow for more meetings next week, flying home the following Saturday.
The time change has made me a bit disorientated. I mess around in the morning before setting off to Chelyabinsk then make a friend in the parking attendant. I have his address and have to send the photo of us together. He speaks no English but my charades are getting better if not a little repetitive. To hear the name of Siberia is freezing but to be there was lovely. The people are nice and friendly, the city is strong and well constructed, sorrounded by the Miass River and circled by woods both inside and outside town.
The cathedral is the most wonderful gothic you can picture on a first rainy, then windy and finally snowy evening.
Don't miss it, it's 2.5 hrs. south of Moscow.

We stayed at Hotel Meridian, a lovely hotel with unlimited WiFi (such a bonus). Olga, the hotel receptionist, who speaks amazing English, made us feel so welcome. Thanks, Olga, we can thoroughly recommend your hotel.
