... into the ride that the guy wasn't wrong. The ride did get bumpy. The first few times I exclaimed, but later I got used to it! :) We were served a cold towel and water. A little later, were were in the middle of the ocean....in front of us....water....behind us....water! We LONGED to see our water bunglow. At last we were recieved at the Anantara Resort by a guy named Paul ( I think). While our bags were being transfered and our room related admin ...

... was superb. The dive operation had two boats each morning and each afternoon. You could choose between an 'All level' boat which did easy dives and an 'advanced boat' which did... advanced dives. (Duh!) And advanced diving it really was, I was challenged by currents, depths and a lot of things. It was the most challenging diving thus far in my trip. Luckily one of the Divemasters from Manthiri had a few days off and was able to join me for a ...

... juice overlooking the ocean with my new friend Hala from Egypt/England), I had sent an email to a recruiter back in Wellington and just got a very interesting job description to review. All fate, but really will need to work ASAP upon return to NZ and maybe, maybe, actually work 10 or 11 months to gear up for trying to start my own consulting gig. Ah, in shallah (I spell it in challah but regardless, it means "If God so wills it" in Arabic and I use it a lot. ) Peace and love, Lanah

update from the 40 year old!!!

... cosmos and Mike enjoyed lots of gin and tonics....it was a festive night. After the dancing (don't worry, we have lots of video footage) we went into a room which was laid out with traditional Indian tables (low to the ground) with cushions, bolsters, and all beautiful lit with candles. The evening was magical...again the food outstanding, and the boys were on fire. Liam and John were break dancing, singing, and basically doing stand-up ...

Two months in Maldives

Two months here - it has gone by fast (most of the time). I'm overdue on the travel log update. It's been a busy 3 weeks but mostly day to day life stuff. We prepare now for a week of R and R (rest and relaxation). The destination is not 100% confirmed but our hope is Sri Lanka. It's not a recommended travel destination these days because of recent bombings but it's a place that Doug has been to often and the kids and I have been wanting to visit for some time. It ...

... heroes who fought an 8 year war to drive out the Portuguese who occupied the Maldives from 1558 to 1573. So, I'm on that learning curve and I'm working on a schedule for the kids learning projects on various things from coral reefs, to sea turtles, sharks, fish, oceans and general Maldivian culture. At the same time I've started work today and need to get my head around staff orientation and training plans for CUSO. Until next time.......

... a quick speedboat trip and a last chat with Rahel and Patrick at the Airport. Arrival at six in the evening in Zurich. It feels like autumn... and of course it rains. A bad surprise is waiting for us at home: Central Switzerland is struggeling with the worst floods since 100 years, nearly everything is under water, trains do not run on schedule (...if that happens in Switzerland ...
