The touring is over. Time for a holiday. Had an early breakfast at 5.45 am and walked down to the port to catch the big ship to Santorini. Uncertain of cruising protocols and etiquette we asked an attendant where we Economy Class passengers could go. Anywhere but the airline seats, they are for the Business Class. He suggested a seat on one of the upper decks at the stern. As usual ...

Our trip to the Plitvice Lakes in Croatia was very interesting. Getting there wasn't a problem but after discovering the hostel we had booked was in the middle of nowhere and no one around spoke English, it was a little more difficult to get around. We were staying 17km outside of Plitvice Lakes in someone's house in a room upstairs. The people who owned the house hardly spoke a word of English and could barely even tell us how to get to the plitvice lakes. ...

... see. It was really cute to watch and I ended up giving it a big portion of my sandwich to eat. When my group arrived at the port I lined up with them in the metal waiting bays, like a herd of cattle, then made the mad dash to the ferry when it arrived to try and get a good seat. We had a wonderful day - what a way to celebrate our 25th anniversary - one we will never forget. Thanks to Mummy for our fantastic accomodation and to Mandi for paying for our dinner!

Had a lazy morning gazing out at our stunning view, then walked down for coffee and greek cake and yoghurt for brekkie.

... s not the same!! This afternoon we decide to relax by the pool and read. I had finished a fascinating book by Charles Duhigg called ' The power of habit' so it was time for a juicy thriller, this time Kathy Reich's Fatal Voyage. Bruce and I have both got coughs, either a reaction to sharing planes with sick people or an allergic reaction to the dust and cigarette smoke. Anyway here's hoping the sea air blows our germs ...
