Atlantis found in the Bermuda Triangle!

... won't be wanting any dinner tonight. What a healthy diet! After the Atlantis experience and leaving Sarah to fly off on her adventures after 8 weeks on Bella, it was then three short hops from Nassau to Chub Cay, Bimini then Ft Lauderdale or as Harri calls it "Civilisation". In fact one of the best things about this part of the journey was on the way from Chub Cay to Bimini we caught four fish. Two Mahi Mahi decided to jump on the lines at once and it was a race to get both of ...

... the night was beautiful. When the sun set, it backlit orange through the head sail. We didn't take any pictures because our little camera would not capture those colors. By sunset, we were beyond land on all sides - that we could see - the moon had risen around 4:00 in the afternoon so shone all night long. When I was at the helm, wrapped up in blankets and jackets, the moon shone down the back of the bimini and it was so ...

French Kissing the Wind - Cruising Styles

... thing we all have in common is that we're here, lovin' life, French kissing the wind! On the beach we're just cruisers having a great time! A message to those who are interested : To anyone who wants to get out and do this, you don't need to be equipped like the Queen Mary! All you need is a good sound vessel and the ability to figure out how to do the rest! Just let go of those dock lines! It is soooooooooo worth it!

... the Abacos. We spent a wonderful afternoon talking with them and enjoying the soft breezes across the water. We returned to Spindrift around 4:00 to get ready for Happy Hour at 5:30 on the beach. Bring our drinks and something to share. All the moorings are occupied in the North and South Anchorages so hopefully there will be a good crowd. From what I understand, cruisers don't miss pot lucks or ...

Chub Cay to Nassau N25 24.595 W 77 54.574

April 3, 2009 This morning is beautiful skies, winds 15-20 kts and anchorage is rollin'. Can see the seas breaking over the rocks we were in front of when the engine quit. Actually we can see where we came in. Dave says he still doesn't know how we got in OK. I know....I know. We have been blessed in so many ways. The blessings just keep coming. It's about 11:30 AM, we have finished our chores of ...

... bikes, motocycles, scooters, golf carts and cars - all on the same 1 1/2 lanes of road. Since there were no sidewalks, we were walking the gravel and always seemed on the wrong side of the road. We walked from the Entering Alice Town to the Leaving Alice Town - and saw most everything. Down at the end of the road is a memorial for the Bimini residents who ...

Calm seas and a burger from paradise

... Cordoba, and Granada and if I went with the other group I would go to Cadiz and Madrid. Decisions, decisions but I don't think I am going to go wrong with either choice. After activities we had our guest lecturer for Spain. He is a Spanish professor at UVA and he held a meeting to talk about dining once we arrive in Spain. It was quite interesting because the meal times in Spain are completely different than the usual three meals ...

Culture shock

... slightly full. This wasn't going to happen again. We asked around for local seafood fry joint. The concierge sent us to Araway Cay a little strip of seafood shacks near the commercial docks for; fried conch, conch salad, conch fritters, and seared conch with two sky juice(definitely not virgin) for fifty dollars, much less than lunch. Dinner was so fried and filling that we walked along the beach to for a ...

Entering the Unknown...

... on or more than the meter reads, pay him what you agreed on and walk away. Nassau was very good about taxis and i had no problems at all with ym driver on any ride. US dollars are widely accepted throughout the bahamas, and the exchange rate is almost equal. the hotel we were in was very nice and over looked the ocean, it was modestly priced and had everything i needed for a one nights stay. a lot of people who would be traveling with me stayed at the ...

Pictures from the trip vol.1

... we stumbled onto what Brenda told us, was ancient sacred grounds of the slaves that lived in these parts of the island hundreds of years ago. Pictures were definitely in order, so we took some. Needless to say, we never did get to the Babbling Brooke that day, and only time will tell if we ever do. But i can certainly say, this day, was a day of my life I'll always remember. Thank God I've got Pictures from the trip.
