Aloha!

... went to Pearl Harbor, and we have visited the beach almost every day. I thought that Pearl Harbor was interesting because they showed a very informative video about how and why the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. The downside to that day was that we had to take a bus there that took two hours each way. We have been going to Makaha Beach Park ...

Beautiful Hawaii

... to the water briefly so hard to grab a photo - we got a few

The rest of the week we spent chilling by the pool/beach and sight seeing. There was one family round the pool that always kept us amused. They had 4 kids aged between 5 and 14 who were amazing swimmers and did not want to leave the pool at the end of the day. It reminded me ...

... are now giving a very different picture of Hawaii - a very sweeping generalisation, I know. It also saddened me to discover just how many people were living rough down this part of the coast..............why so many? It made me wonder whether the rest of the island would have changed for the worst so much. Perhaps that was why the beautiful hotel we were staying at was so quiet.

By the time the recovery man arrived and the jeep was pulled out of the ...

Journey to Hawaii

... Bowfin, the USS Missouri battleship and the Aviation Museum. We had a fantastic time - we all absolutely loved the submarine and spent a lot of time exploring it. We were just a little shaky with Daniel running up and down the top of the sub with very little there to stop him falling into Pearl Harbour. He was so enthusiastic and wanted to press every button/switch he could find and kept wanting his photo taking. Jeff and I really enjoyed it too as neither ...

The first glorious day!!

Okay, so today I arrived in Honolulu National Airport at 1:45. I was so excited to be here, but lets start from the begining of the day. I got up at 5 o'clock in the morning, I was so excited that I didn't really even care that I had to get up that early.I got ready and finished packing my stuff up, and then we weighed my bags and i knew I was going to be close to the fifty pounds and my one bag was definitley over the 50 pounds so we had to move a bunch of things ...

Yaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!

... I made it. I got the rental, a Suzuki Impreza...a real piece by the way, and met her in Waikiki at the Marriott where we were staying. I changed into flip-flops and we went to dinner and enjoyed the strongest Mai Tai ever...we were seriously trashed off of one damn drink! I love the warm weather; it was snowing when I left Denver this morning, so this is a very welcome change. :o)

Oahu Circle Island Tour

... Head, and then the Aqua Continental, our last stop. Still on a buzz from all that we had seen, we walked to Waikiki beach, to our usual spot, and enjoyed the sunset in the water, still warm from a day of sunshine (and possibly a day's worth of children peeing). On our walk back to the hotel we caught the end of a show (they have live performances almost every night) and stopped by the shops to buy a drink. We dined on leftover sandwiches and premade frapuccinos.

Journey to Paradise: Oahu

... DD2 tried their luck in fishing in the village of Tahiti and they each got a tattoo. In Tonga the kids and DH participated in Tongan spear tossing. We watched the Coral Reef Adventure at the IMAX Theater. The movie was really interesting and very informative. It showes that beauty of the coral reefs and the different school of fish. The movie also teaches us on how to take care of the reef and why it is important to take care of it. Then we went to see the Canoe Pageant. It was ...

Swimming with dolphins

... dolphins for about 5 minutes (and me personally being in total awe at the sights), we were told to jump in and swim with them. Easier said than done! When it was my turn to go, I had some uneasy hesitation: 1) because I have a fear of swimming in the open ocean where creatures like sharks or octopi can come at you, 2) because I was a bit nervous about swimming among the dolphins, and 3) because I'm scared to jump into the ocean, where it's cold and ...
