4am woken by the loudest emergency alarm going off in our room and obviously in the hotel. I leapt out of bed pretending to be alert and within 20 seconds the alarm fell silent. I fell back into bed and we considered what to do ...
... all over our clean washing, strange noises through the night, un-lockable windows, hearing the owner sneeze coz the walls are so thin & to top it off a cold water shower in the morning, I QUIT, I QUIT, I QUIT.
I present Pete with two options. 1) we stay and I become the crankiest wife ever OR 2) check me out of here NOW for future happiness. Screw the budget - I'm done.

... but we felt energetic. It was quite a cheap day out all up.
We wore our runners, unlike a lot of other tourists (mainly Japanese), who were wearing thongs. We were prepared, as we had done hikes and walks before, and this was classed as a medium grade hike, so knew sort of knew what we were in for. The climb was certainly within our capabilities, a bit like hiking in a desert, but the hot midday sun did make it ...
... On the way to the beach we stopped for a yummy lunch of Udon noodles and fish cakes.
To finish off the day we walked back down to the beach to watch the sunset, beautiful. As I write this I'm finishing off the day with a nice glass of Washington red wine. Ahhh, this is the life.

... hotel I'd stayed in for the first three days here, so I'm trekking across Waikiki to get them, which wouldn't be such a big deal if it wasn't boiling hot. I'm not actually sure what the temperature is at the moment, but... it's hot. Gonna try and keep to the shade as much as possible, and maybe try to find somewhere that isn't so costly to sit and write. I could probably sit in the common area of the hostel, but it's not so open... I like being able to people ...
