... dampen our spirits along with the mass of people who had also decided to descend on the town in their thousands! We only walked around for a couple of hours before making our way back to our car park for the night. By the time we arrived back we imagined that most of the cars would have left for the night….how wrong we were…….not only were there more cars but the motorhomes were still arriving too! This was not our idea of fun and ...

different here, people tend to buy a small amount of food at a time,

bread and cheese. So why would I NOT see a lot of baguettes going for
a walk down the street with their respective French owners?

hoity toity) who works at the school also and he said that we should
stay longer in Nice and travel around to all the small towns outside
of Nice and skip going to Lyon. He also said that Marseille isn’t
that nice of a city, but I guess we’ll find out ...

A real seaside day. Morning mists as we rose after our wet previous evening to breakfast standing up before setting off along the coast. Morning coffee at Chatelaillon-Plage with local dancing in regional costume to accordions, hurdy gerdys, flutes; then on towards La Rochelle with lunch overlooking the sea as ...

As we got up at 7.30 we just about got away without torches. As light came we had packed up the trailer and panniers and we're sat at our picnic table for tea, muesli and toast with Vegemite and Sarah's home made apricot jam. Then we were off north bound to the ferry crossing to Royan - a rolling, pitching crossing, a bit chillier than our southbound crossing two weeks ago. After 60 some miles (we can't be more accurate as the mileometer stop working after lunches for a few miles) we ...
