Two week luxury break with my sister Linda
Saturday 15 March
Met Linda at airport - I had already booked into our hotel - Bel Aire Princess. What a hotel - Linda sure knows how to pick them. Taxi ride back to hotel - even Linda said hotel was fabaroonie. Complementary drink in bar after we had unpacked. Oh my Linda has brought half her wardrobe - flip-flops/shoes/handbags/jewellery (all …

Phitsanulok, Ayutthaya and Bangkok
Built on the banks of the Nan River, Phitsanulok, birthplace of King Naresuan, served as teh Siamese capital for 25 years. After breakfast we visited the Bronze Case Factory and saw first-hand the "lost wax method" of casting bronze Buddha images. Then we drove through the countryside, past fields of rice paddies, to Lopburi and Phra Prang Sam Yot …
Bangkok
Wats, Wats and more Wats. Wat Trimitr Temple houses a 700-year-old Golden Buddha, the largest in the world, weighing approximately 5 tons. At Wat Po, the oldest temple in Bangkok founded in the 17th century, is the amazing Reclining Buddha, whose face depicts Nirvana attainment with mother-of-pearl studded feet. We then explored Bangkok's canal …
Bangkok
Today we visited the Grand Palace, which functions as the home of the King and his court as well as the entire administrative seat of government. Within the grounds is the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew), a large Buddha image carved from a solid piece of green jadite. For dinner we enjoyed a festive farewell dinner and folklore dancing.

Stayed here last year and staying again because it is very good. Excellent rooms, quiet central location. Right in the middle of the Sukumvit Area. Lots of bars, pubs and restaurants and an easy walk to the Paragon centre for mega shopping and cinemas. Breakfast is excellent and the pool area lovely though rather small.

Historical Traveler Reviews Majestic Grande Hotel Bangkok
Just Great!!!!
Great Staff, Great Hotel, Great location, Great Price, Great rooms..what else can I say. I have stay in hotels around the world and for the money, you cannot beat the price for what you get from this hotel. The only thing not so great was the slow internet connection in the business center, but the business center staff is Great! Five star small hotel; I highly recommend.
Majestic Grande Bangkok
Just came back from Bangkok and stayed at Grand Majestic for 5 days .What a wonderful hotel with good location and facilities .Excellent breakfast as well . Will definately stay there again .
Super Hotel
Great hotel, right next door to the JW Marriot and a short walk to the Nana or Plonchit skytrain stations. The hotel is brand new with very chic modern rooms with amenities like hardwood floors, big tvs, and marble bathrroms. The staff was very friendly and super helpful. Food and spa were also great. Highly recommended!
Excellent choice forBangkok
Very good location, 10 mins walk to either of two Skytrain stations. Rooms are very high standard and breakfasts better than usual buffet standard. Ultra-friendly staff. Rooms could be a bit better soundproofed - funnily enough noticed this most first time we stayed when we were upgraded to a room on the executive floor. You could really hear/feel the doors banging in adjacent rooms, and could even hear the guy next door clearing his nose out!!
All in all, a great hotel, well recommended.
Poor maintenace and poorly trained staff
This hotel was built as a cheap 5 star. It's really more like a 2 star, that has gone through the checklist of what people think should be a 5 star hotel. Poor maintenace shows, though it's only been a year or so--there were cigarette burn marks on the bath tub and the sofa. The rooms are v. small and they look beat up--quite surprising, given when it was built. The staff try, but are really not up to the service you would receive at JW Marriott or Conrad. Just think you can do better at this price. Also, the hotel can be verrrry noisy. Pool is so shallow you'd have to work to drown in it. Out door dining can be ok, if you don't mind the dust from the cabbies that pull up 5 feet next to your table, or the blaring nightclub music 40 feet away. But the sad thing is that they are really trying.
Great great hotel
Majestic Grande is a 5 star hotel at 3 star prices. It is the best value in all of Bangkok. Rooms are furnished in teak wood and marble. Excellent staff-to-guest ratio. Great amenities, great service. Fitness room has treadmill, which I liked, as Bangkok is too hot and difficult for jogging. Great buffet breakfast. Rooms are comfortable. They might not be huge, but they are large enough. Very quiet for sleeping.
Great Hotel, excellent location, but rooms a bit small
The Majestic is in a great location Soi 4 Sukhumvit and near to the Nana Plaza. The rooms were very clean and tidy albeit a bit small, but to be honest you're not staying in the hotel 24/7 but just using it as a base whilst you are out for the day etc. The staff were as ever very helpful and polite. The restaurant food was also very good. The hotel was in easy walking distance of the sky train and local shops and for those that way inclined the local bars. Would I stay here again? the answer would be yes purely because of its location and reasonable price and very comfortable accommodation.
Not so much a budget 5* more of an upgraded 2*
The web site promised so much; in reality the rooms are much smaller than the photos suggest. I had high hopes for this hotel but it is let down by a budget air condtioning system and by the lack of noise insulation, there was a party in the room next to me and every scream kept me awake until the early hours, also the plumbing system is not up to scatch, if a neighbour turns on a tap at 3.00am the noise is enough to wake you (well me anyway)
Shame really because this could be THE place to stay in Bangkok, certainly a great location but too many economies on the specification means this is but a deluxe version of Majestic Suites and as such is overpriced
May be the best small hotel in Bangkok
The hotel has just opened. It's on Soi 4 off Sukhumvit Road close to Nana station. A great hotel with nice pool area, indoor sauna and a good gym with all new equipment. The rooms are nice though somewhat small. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Excellent Asian & European breakfast buffet. It's comparable to the nearby Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, though smaller and at half the price.
Family Heaven
After a very bad first night in Bangkok we walked the streets with 4 kids in tow to find a new hotel .We came across this one and everything was amazing. They couldn't do enough for the very tired 4 adults and hungry hot kids .They arranged to go get our luggage from the yucky hotel and pampered us for the remainder of our trip .Beautiful friendly helpful staff , fantastic food , clean well appointed rooms .A perfect relaxing haven to come to after a busy day in Bangkok. The places they recommened were all great .We will always stay there when in Bangkok .
