... have been breathtaking). Mike did a wonderful job staying focused with such dazzling landscape all around; I felt like I drove it right along with him. We were glad when we got to our hotel (Luckily we had nothing but Iced Tea for lunch....yes we do that now & then!

... highway and found some matches so we could cook our breakfast, next to the sea while we waited for the fog to lift. We made our way to Monterey slowly, stopping at the famous McWay waterfall at Big Sur, then going to Pfeiffer beach which has purple sand, as well as normal coloured sand, and having a photo opportunity at bixby bridge before spending some time exploring point Lobos, a nature reserve with marine mammals and birds and more tide pooling.

... start at 12:30. We might have been able to finish but it would have been close and anyways Bob wanted to watch the Grey Cup game. Before we played, Bob agreed to give me two strokes a hole and on that basis I actually beat him! I had a lot of lucky bounces but also played a good game.

... we took the 17 (Californians always put "the" in front of the highway number, I don't know why, Maryland actually has the first interstate highway, The National Pike, but hey this is California). A 'must do' when in Monterey! Everywhere you go you can hear the sea lions and when you go down Old Fishermans Wharf, the sound is almost deafening.
