    ... no horn honking though. The driver didn't have a seat belt on so the car beeped at him constantly. He turned the radio up really load to blast over the beeping - he did this a couple of times and then I think he realised it was his seat belt - maybe the presence of police in front of him also jogged his memory about the use of seat belts.     ... we played pool (me very badly which was embarrassing when partnered with Axel) and enjoyed smoking inside. You got incredibly drunk so I had to help you stand etc for some time. At first we we're resolved to stay at this place, but eventually decided to move on. We piled into a tiny popular club with incredibly overpriced drinks where we saw two police officers drink beer and flirt with young girls, but didn't like it so decided to ditch.     ... at the Cybeles fountain and right into the middle of a noisy demonstration with flagwaving people blowing whistles and foghorns. They were surrounded and outnumbered by police and I focussed on looking innocent as I strolled past a line of police in riot gear around the corner.

    ... have absolutely no choice" despite the fact that they're three sizes too small, the zip at the back only did up after ages of wearing them in and they were much higher than I can walk in. I was terrified of breaking them when walking because the footpaths here are terribly uneven and unpredictable especially at night. Especially when you have to walk five blocks!

    Trained in to Madrid again for a final look and shop at the markets. Although we've had a couple of casual paella meals, we went to a local restaurant (La Gitana) for their seafood paella speciality. Very good too. The sun was shining and we ate outside.
