Sydney 2

On the 29th December I had to move across the other side of the city as there was no space left at the hostel. I moved to a Bed and Breakfast in Potts point not far from the Botanical Gardens. I had a room to myself which is good but It is hard to make friends as everyone keeps to themselves and there is no lounge area. On the 30th went into the city to have a look around and I met two ladies who I became friends with in Melbourne which was good. I saw them while watching an amazing street pe...

Its a beach life - Sydney

... apparently! I'm not sure how that compares to hotel standards!?

I was looking forward to being back in the 'big city' for the night life and to enjoy Sydney's vast array of beaches. The big difference to Melbourne is how much more busier the place is; it has more of a big city feel. After some catching up with some washing and ironing I headed straight to the bars around circular quay which surrounds Sydney Bridge and Harbour to soak up the ...

Crikey P & Sheila B to Sydney...!!

... to go there. Itīs basically an Island with white sand dunes and a little jungle. We could not see the fun of that and also that we did not have a 4x4 campervan made it a bit difficult. So just a night at Rainbow beach and the next morning we got into town, but we were too late to feed the Dolphins.! Apparently they come everyday at this pier and you can hand feed them if you wish. Well asked my Crikey Mates if they would return for lunch.....but no ...

... and their children, Chester, who turned 18 the day before we arrived, and Scarlett who is 12. Their house, which they are in the middle of renovating, is in the beautiful suburb of Cronulla on the coast just south of Sydney, near Botany Bay. Tracey had been living next door to Nosh and Justine in Sydney in 1991 when Chester was born and had, by coincidence, moved back again in 1997 just after Scarlett was born. Although we had briefly caught ...

G'day mate!

... to find a bad thing to say about Sydney. All we can come up with is the public transport system could be better integrated...we're scraping the barrel there. By the way, the temperature is a lovely 24 degrees with pure blue skies every day- is anyone jealous yet? We hear it's been lashing it down with rain at home- bumma!!*

The first day we got here we went to an Aussie rules match which was really cool. There's a ...

Sydney day 73 and 74

... attractive women, lol. In a way it is similar to Brighton in that its quite multicultural in that it's a ethnically diverse city, although there are a lot more different types of people. When I first got off the train i was suprised by the size of the Asian community here in Sydney, it is quite prominent, for the first hour i was in the city i saw mainly asian people, it went against my preconception of being purely Australia land, which i guess is a good thing, being ...

Goodbye Oz - We'll meet again!

... just did. We visit scenic world which is a bit of tourist kitsch with a 2 minute cable car ride which should be erased to the ground and burnt along with whoever decided to put this grotesque enterprise in this wonderful park. We simply pass through - thankfully. Then back to town. Of course I haven't done the Blue Mountain region justice by spending only one day here - it demands and deserves so much more. Back in town I spend my last night in my favourite ...

From Blue to Bondi

... literally the crosstown bus, and you are at the beach. Man, it's cool. It also has me very excited to move to California... The YHA Bondi Beachhouse is about 4 blocks from Bondi Beach, and we couldn't check in just yet so we just went down to the beach. I'm not much of a beach guy...too...relaxing... I need to be moving. So Kristen lay on the beach and I walked all the way to one side and then half way back to the swimming ...
