Choranche Caves
... tiny squiggly detour because of construction. I let them go ahead since they were definitely faster going down all the switchbacks than I was. I said later that I knew it was a tight corner when I was looking out the passenger window to see if there was any oncoming traffic!

Escargots & Grenouilles
... by this, too, the first time I had been in France. Once dessert was done, it was nearing ten o’clock and they were getting ready to close the restaurant down. We had been in there savouring our meals for nearly two hours. We were all stuffed and were very glad that the campsite was only a few minutes away as we waddled back to camp. It had been an epic day of fine French food, great views and excellent company - one that was going to be hard to top.

Alpe d'Huez
... side. The wind was so strong at this point that I nearly fell off my bike as a gust caught my wheels from the side. I managed to stay on the bike and after a few kilometers the wind died down as we were in the shelter of the mountainsides once again. Croix de Fer
... in to town to see about getting dad’s bike fixed. It had been having some sort of problem on the descent from the Telegraph the day before so he wasn’t keen to ride it until it was looked at. Luckily the guy at the shop knew just what to do and it didn’t involve a new wheel! We then headed back to camp to have a swim in the pool. The sun was nice and warm and we all enjoyed a swim or two once everyone arrived.
