Thanksgiving, a time of reflection, family gatherings, celebration and of course over eating. Everyone except the turkey enjoys this holiday here in America, although the turkey that receives the Presidential Pardon probably enjoys it more than anyone.
Each year the President of the United States chooses a turkey that he pardons from finishing up on the table.
... They usually play some old songs their dad use to sing and play. I am so glad we are taking the time to visit. They usually stay with us when they come to Kentucky and we always look forward to their visit.
... wide open blue skies, enjoying the lovely white sand beaches and the fun of crossing waters on great bridges and fun little ferries has well compensated for the cooler weather - still much warmer then most of the rest of the country.
Having said all this, the next several entries will be more about photos and less about descriptions. Sometimes I get so caught up in the enjoyment of the moment that I miss the photo op.
... The water is crystal clear and very warm (over 80). Sounds too good to be true right? Well there are the Blood Sucking Stable Flies to contend with. Apparantly they are the worst they have been all year this weekend,, woohoo! We setup camp and go to the beach for a swim and yes the flies attack so we go in the water… Go for a bike ride then use internet at park ...
... drive from Sopchoppy along the scenic coastline (we are avoiding the major highways when we can), which ended with a fabulous 4 1/2 mile bridge to Saint George Island. My good friend Debbie would have been terrified of this bridge. Water on all sides and amazing views. There are only two places to stay on Saint George Island other than condos, and we checked into The Buccaneer Inn which is beachside. We decided that the weather was just too hot to camp ...
