... the afternoon falling over. It had been a while.
For the last few days we have been up at the ski hills, getting better everyday and absolutely loving it. Keystone is huge, with the gondola taking 10 minutes to reach the top of the run. We've had some big falls but keep coming back each day and doing it again.
We've been camping on the fringe of town and it's starting to get cold. It's expected to get as low as -15 degrees by the end of the week which should be interesting!
... sagebrush, junipers, and little lizards that scurried across our path many times. The stops we were making were starting to take a little more time than we had anticipated,so we made one more stop at the upper viewpoint of Delicate Arch before we headed out of the park. Yesterday's drive was interesting following the Colorado river up through a canyon for 100 miles before hitting the interstate I-70 to New Castle. We went through Cisco, a ghost town that died with the steam train. 18-inch pizza at New Castle and bedding down with Mormons at Econolodge. Sunday was a driving day. On Digger's last day we drove up through the high country north of Jefferson up over Georgia Pass (11,585ft on the Continental Divide) in his 'Lincoln Navigator' hire car - he had to change from his BMW 740 after the sunroof exploded!!!!. Test fired a few weapons......
Very pristine environment above the tree line. Not a good place to be in the middle of winter.....
Beautiful views and the Aspen trees just beginning to change colour as winter approaches....
hurtled through to the summit once i crossed the snow patch.The adrenaline and endorphin rush once i reached the summit was so sheer that all the tiredness from climbing vanished. Not to mention, the view from the peak was awesome in true sense of the word- it inspired awe.
I am not a camera savvy guy. I mean given a choice i would rather sit down at a place ...
