... 8217;t a whole lot in the desert north of Vegas; joshua trees and scrub. We drove up the Extraterrestrial Highway (no kidding) and it took a bit of planning to prevent running out of fuel in the middle of nowhere. We drove back into civilization when we crossed the border into Idaho. Finally, after seventeen hours and three more states, we were in Yakima.

... to me "Are you sure you want that trolley?' I then looked down and realized nothing in it was what we'd chosen, ha ha, doh! It gave all of us a good laugh, even if it was at my expense. Loaded with goodies, Janis (who had come along to scout out desserts for the party, which she and Monica were generously providing) and I headed for the car in the freezing cold and another evening was over.

... are where it's truly treacherous. It took me nearly half an hour to clear the snow enough for me to drive into my parking stall at the condo that night so I wouldn't get stuck, and it was still snowing the next morning when I left. The highway was surprisingly clear, apart from what I call a "driving through dry ice effect". ... after Christmas. I guess it's going to depend on the finances. If I can afford to go back to New York again, I will, I'd hate to miss the opportunity while I'm so comparatively close. I wish I'd spent more time there instead of the time in Niagara. Not that I regret seeing Niagara Falls, far from it, but I didn't need to spend 4 days there. New York just after Christmas, when the decorations are hopefully still on display, and on New Years Eve, would be wonderful to ...
