2 hour flight to Philadelphia + 20 min train ride to center city + 2 hour wait/lunch + 1.5 hour bus ride later... I am at Lehigh University!!! It is a gorgeous campus with a lot of hills and concrete steps. The midday heat rivaled that of Atlanta. I managed to get checked in, shower and nap before going to an all staff dinner! So I walked over to the Pilot truck stop at the edge of town (past all the run-down gentleman's clubs and adult shops next to the river, further confirming my impression of the town) to grab a Subway sandwich and headed out around 9:30 p.m. for my first night hike on the trail.

... I had finally made it to the unofficial halfway point. I treated myself to a night in a hostel and some pizza. On the AT the trail only goes through about 5 miles of West Virginia, so I made it into Maryland in no time. To everyone's relief the trail in Maryland flattened out quite a bit so I was able to push a lot of miles. Next thing I know I am crossing the Mason Dixon line into Pennsylvania. My second or third day in Pennsylvania I hit the 2015 halfway point. I was extremely ...
