    ... Gras when I was in New Orleans. On my way to Las Vegas I now had no idea that I was going to drive past the impressive Hoover Dam, stretching from Arizona right into Nevada which has been featured on a number of movies (I think on one James Bond too...?). Built between 1931 and 1936 the place definitely has some Art Deco style to it and reminded me a bit of the architecture on Ocean Drive in Miami Beach or the movie The Great Gatsby. Cool ...

    Left SD about 10:15 am after seeing off Karen. A little cool on departure was thinking of wearing a jacket but figured once I hit the desert and got away from the marine layer the temperature would be on the rise. Started out at 71 and sure enough didn't take long to get to the mid 90's then once I hit the Mojave desert I was into the more familiar 105 degrees.
