Hello, it's my turn on the blog, so I'll try to do justice to Varkala.

We arrived on the afternoon train from Kollam, at about 2:30pm. It's just a 20-minute train ride from Kollam, and a very pleasant one too - the train crossed numerous small and large bridges that join the backwaters: from small rivers and creeks, to large lagoons and big, open river-mouths.
