... remember the last time I wore a seatbelt, but on the way to the beach we had too many close calls than I care to think about. It was pretty scary.

We arrived at the hotel still, thankfully, in one piece. It was a tropical pink building in a lush grove thick with tall coconut trees. The sun was beginning to set, cooling the humid air. The vibe was calm and groovy. The first thing we did was head to the beach.

That said, they were immensely friendly, encouraging us to help with the nets, allowing us to take as many photographs as we liked - and even offering us marijuana (which at 8.00 am was really QUITE a thought!)Amazing fresh seafood dinners, fabulous sunsets and great company - a few days in Varkala comes highly recommended!

... grief I got from the army and security check points, only to look at the screen and say “Qatar, expected” on it.
