Maharaja Hotel in Vasco de Gama (south Goa near the airport) was pretty ordinary despite the fancy lobby area. Neighbourhood is pretty grotty and there was a lovely smell wafting through the very basic room from the oil refinery which was about 50m away. Saw 2 physically handicapped kids on the street just outside (out of a total of 3 kids) - coincidence or something more sinister?? Still, it was nice and handy to the airport (about 10mins in a taxi or 250 rupees).
Goa, Goa, India phillipa_k... have manicured lawns and gardens where peacocks roam freely. There are also many exotic birds and not a pigeon in sight. One poor mans job is simply to pick up bird feathers from the lawns. We order afternoon tea and it is delicious, cucumber & salmon sandwiches, scones , biscuits and a selection of miniature cakes – a little bit of luxury and a taste of home! We take a walk round the grounds at sunset and ...
Jaipur, Rajasthan, India v-atravels0910The next day we travelled to Jaipur. We headed out of Delhi and along the motorway into Rajasthan. The journey wasn't too long, and we managed to stop at a Mac Donalds for breakfast AND a Coffee Day for afternoon tea (Indian Starbucks equivalent) so everyone was in a good mood. Our hotel was a funky little guest house called the Sunder Guest House; another haven in the midst ...
Jaipur, Rajasthan, India noodlerhead... royalty had for their women-that they were not to be observed at any time by the public. Alongside the Palace of Winds is the City Palace Museum. The City Palace was the home to Jaipur's rulers since the 18th century. The building forms a large square around an ample center courtyard. Inside are the usual number of large ceremonial rooms, meeting rooms, bedrooms, etc. We also had the opportunity to see a collection of miniature ...
Jaipur, Rajasthan, India juanitobosque... finger on this day, chant this a 180 times before breakfast donate grain to someone....) I don't understand myuch of it but is a very interesting read. He told me some general character traits that I have, that were all very accurate and ended by telling me that he strongly urged me to change my lifestyle, start living for today and not tomorrow. I'm having a day of gathering myself today - 'll take his advice and start tomorrow!!!! ;-)
Jaipur, Rajasthan, India samaraclifford... to drive off. The bus is stopped and Lisa gets back into the doorwell where we stay cramped up for another 5 minutes, which is Indian time for 30! Finally we arrive at a "big" bus station where most of the Indians get off, so we have to wait for them before arranging ourselves. Then the salesmen at the station get on the bus, and we've had enough so we push them around and finally get a seat. Jaipur is supposed to be famous for its old pink city (which is a ...
Jaipur, Rajasthan, India shaunandlisa... for the rest of the day. By the way, a bindi is simply a symbol of marriage placed conspicuously on the forehead and typically a red dot. Both women and men wear them although you normally see women wearing them. I think women started forcing their men to wear them because it's a lot harder to hide a bindi on your forehead than a ring on your ring finger. Rachel and I really wanted to go to a restaurant where we could eat with only our hands and eat on the floor. Our ...
Jaipur, Rajasthan, India ramrtw... of swords and daggers, as well as a curious collection of 'nut-crackers'. Ouch. Ok, so they were probably for walnuts. We perused the numerous specialist shops and took a step inside one of the silk shops. Louisa had been considering purchasing a sari for some time, and a few of the ones they had on display caught JONATHAN's eye. The shop assistants keenly suggested to Louisa that she try one on "No cost, just try". Louisa wasn't particularly enthused by the ...
Jaipur, Rajasthan, India jcls... to your destination but get the maximum time in the destination. Plus there is always plenty to do, a good range of hotels for any budget and the same with restaurants and shopping. Given you can spend a month at least exploring this wonderful state of Rajasthan, I thought sticking to my plan was a good idea. Jaipur is known as the Pink City and is located in the state of Rajasthan, the land of the Maharajas. I am so excited to be here I could spit...which in this country ...
Jaipur, India bnbfsu... klikatila asi 10 km a nás řidič jel celou cestu neuvěřitelnou rychlostí 25 km v hodině.
