And the scenery was just spectacular. We had driven this route on the bus in the dark so we were seeing it all for the first time. It reminded us both of our trip through the Himalayas a few years ago when we went from Kathmandu to Pokhara in Nepal.

The journey to Shimla took us 8 1/2 hours and the distance was only 240 km (around 180 miles).
When you consider the state of the roads however, i surprised we did it that quick.

... museum it was nearly closing time so we decided to go to the nearby Indian Institute of Advanced Studies instead.

This was an amazing building that was built in the 1880's for the Viceroy of India - it was known as the Viceregal Lodge. We got a tour of the building and enjoyed wandering around the grounds. It had a Hogwarts feeling about it - would be an amazing place to study now!

... before Moti and Prem were to pick us up for our afternoon tour, we ordered a simple room service lunch. Although it was hard to fault the general staff service at the Oberoi Cecil, the room and restaurant service was very slow and the food was just average.
