Day 206 -22 September - Bunratty Castle
... a bit like Old Sydney Town.
The Castle is the most complete and authentic medieval fortress in
Ireland. Built in 1425 it was restored in 1954 to its former medieval
splendour and now contains mainly 15th and 16th century furnishings,
tapestries, and works of art which capture the mood of those times.

Seeing the Burren and heading to Ennis
... there was a HUGE black and yellow bee or bumblebee stinging me. I scared the boys when i started screaming. The BEE didn't seem to mind all the screaming - it just kept stinging. I finally got the thing to fly away. Boy was my leg stinging! Good thing I was wearing jeans as the stinger wasn't left in me. Greg attended to me... We had no ice and Greg took out bee ointment thinking that we would never need it in Ireland. That learned us!

Not too bad a day
... far away from the town to see anything much. So we went down and had a lovely dinner and then finished it up with a drink with some people.
Tomorrow we are off to Killarney and we have a 160kim drive along the coastline so that will be nice if we are on the correct side of the bus. We have been so lucky with the weather, no rain whatsoever, although Shell said it is waiting for us in London.

Cliffs of Moher tour
we went on a big bus with 4 other people and set off from galway for a tour of the cliffs of moher and the burren. our first stop was at the alliwee caves where we had a half hour walking tour through the naturally formed limestone caves. next we stopped at a megalithic tomb formed with 3 large stone slabs. we drove from there to the cliffs of moher. we got there just in time to see the cliffs ...
Two days in Ennis, almost 1 day too many
... GPS wasn’t great for getting from one tourist spot to another, really only for city to city. And while I had an AA road atlas in the car, I didn’t have the best passenger navigator. Anyhow.
