... have proved very difficult, hence we decided to move on. We continued to hug the coastline checking out the waves as we went. Nothing tempted us to jump in (the weather being poor also), however the coastline proved absolutely stunning between Odeceixe and our next destination Lagos. We were continually overwhelmed by the rugged beauty of the coastline coupled with the power of the ocean; we have some wonderful images which we will add to this blog ...
Lagos, Algarve, Portugal lymandannabelle... hostel in town, and B) located next door to the other hostel. The choice was obvious, and I quickly ditched the kiwis to join Kirsten next door.

By another random coincidence, I ran into an older American traveler who was staying at the hostel in Faro with us, and who I had talked to earlier that morning. Over breakfast I had made an effort to score a free ride with him to Lagos, but had been unsuccessful. He was just ...
Lagos, Algarve, Portugal jmckerricherIn Albufeira, we went to a Portugese bullfight, not the real deal as in they don't kill the bull, rather they stab them in the back with a bunch of arrows. I thought it was mean, especially the first bull because it was pretty much still a baby and looked scared instead of angry. Jon ...
Albufeira, Algarve, Portugal sofenjonThe kiting in Alvor is supposedly one of the best spots in Portugal, because of a huge shallow lagoon, however the wind was in the opposite direction so we ended up kiting on the sea side in the waves. Exhausting, but very fun to launch off the waves. We met a wicked ...
Alvor, Algarve, Portugal sofenjon... not "surfers" but we we’re much less scared of getting tossed by the big waves this time. We also came to the conclusion that it maybe wasn’t us that, but that it’s the size of the board that was hindering our performance....

http://picasaweb.google.com/Jonny.D .Lawrence/20091011Sagres?authkey=Gv1sRg CMmMtI7egbGKvAE&feat=directlink

Lagos, Algarve, Portugal kciarnieHey everyone! Sorry it has been awhile again! We are now in Lagos, Portugal and it is beautiful. It is right on the water and the weather is much more tolerable than Spain, which was about 100 degrees every day! Rome was amazing and we had just enough time to see everything we wanted to. Unfortunatley we weren´t allowed into Vatican City to see our friend the Pope but we got to go into the Basillica, which was really cool. After Rome we went to Cinque Terra, which is 5 ...
Lagos, Algarve, Portugal biddledanielleI was told that parts of Europe were sunny and beautiful, filled with prancing topless women on idyllic sand-covered beaches. London revealed just the opposite to me. To be more specific, it contained torrential rain and hideous crack-***** crones demanding cigarettes. Lagos lived up to all of the hype regarding Mediterranean beach life, with the added bonus of three legged ...
Lagos, Portugal jdnason... in all of the Algarve, Praia da Rocha. It was very nice, it had a beautiful stretch of golden sand. It is one of the beaches to get the European blue flag, it must meet very high standards to get this, for safety of swimming, lack of pollution, etc, Portomao was a very nice old town with lots of cobbled streets made into pedestrian only shopping areas. We found a Gelato shop that has its original shop in Venice. We have experienced Gelato a few different places while in ...
Lagos, Portugal audreyandjack... and emotional music, and enjoyed a night of winding down with Neill before he headed out. We actually ended up running into one of Vaunda's brothers friends that night...funny how the capital of Portugal can feel so small. It was so great to see our buddies from home and we were so touched that they made it all the way over to see us. There were definitely some challenges (mostly with accommodation), but it was still an awesome time and one we wont forget. Thanks guys!!!
