De ooievaars verzamelden zich, een paar honderd meter van onze boot, voor vertrek naar Afrika. Het waren er honderden. Nog wat ver weg voor de video, maar een prachtig gezicht door de verrekijker.
Weer een stukje film met dolfijnen rond de boot, op weg van Sines naar Lagos ...

I made it to Lagos yesterday. Its basically a beach/party town. The second place that I walked into turned out to be a really great room for 25 euros a night complete with my first english language tv of the trip. Today I spent part of the day in Sagres, the southwestern most point in europe. Good for pictures and walking really really far. Tomorrow I´m going to attempt to get to Seville.

This weekend I went on a trip to Lagos, Portugal with an organization called DiscoverSevilla. I had an absolutely amazing time!!!!!!!!!!! This is my first trip outside of Spain and it couldn't have gone better.

... we hit the town. Since i got there so late, there wasnt time to check out the beach that day. All i did was go to the super market with Lorena and Natalie and i was able to obtain a 79 cent bottle of wine. OMG, and it was soo good. We did a little bit of predrinking because thats what you do before you go out. We hit a couple bars, the first one being three monkeys. ... english and German tourists for the 1st 4 days of our stay!), and walking the little streets of the old town - full of white little buildings.

We had a great hostel - one of the cleanest I've ever stayed in with great facilities - 2 kitchens and a roof-top terrace with BBQ, a top manager called Arthur who sounded Russian even though he was Portuguese, and we were lucky enough to have a great group of people staying there with us, so we made lots of new friends to hang out ...

... headed for some waves. On the way down to Sagres beach on the west coast i saw the Good Feeling Surf House in a little town halfway between Lagos and Sagres and had remembered reading some pretty good reviews so stopped in on my way back form my surf. Met 2 of the friendliest brits ever who had been staying there for a couple of weeks and decided to keep my trip as a chill out surf trip rather than a party hard ...

... t much left of it besides the exterior wall that protected the base, but we walked up and down both sides of it for some great views that stretched for miles. We were exhausted after hiking around all day. ... here as I've ever seen in my life. There is no judgment, no stress, no feeling of responsibility or obligation short of showing up one's token 4-5 hours behind the bar. This place is an oasis for people who haven't really found themselves in the world. It's completely timeless. Days go by, new people arrive with the same problems and same insecurities. Vets finally leave, content with their knowledge and experiences, finally ready to face the real world. The circle continues ...

When I visited the dentist to have my permanent crown put in she discovered a longstanding infection in my gum which bone had grown around! It could be left to flare up or I could have an operation to remove it. Yesterday I had the op.Apart from a bit of swelling & bleeding it was fine. I am looking forward to getting my permanent crown in a couple of weeks.
