We travelled today along the Natchez Trace Parkway.this is the route taken by travellers as far back as 1780's Boatman known as "Kaintucks" would float wooden flatboats down the Mississippi River from Nashville to the markets in New Orleans and Natchez. Without an efficient way to navigate up the river they would sell their boats for lumber and walk the 444 miles back home, which could take them a month. ...

The elderly custodian must be a train enthusiast, as there are 2 neat model railway train displays which he took great delight in switching on to show us.

The next quest was to find coffee, and one of the 2 Casinos was the place we chose. There are 2 big casinos on the riverside, so this must be the local entertainment area!

I wonder where we'll have dinner?

Tomorrow we're off to Monticello in Arkansas.

... had heaps of big corporations (McDonald's, Walmart etc) and looked like any other place. When we swung off the main strip, however, the town was poorly maintained with abandoned buildings, junk lying around and collapsing roofs. It was sad that clearly only the stretch that receives travellers on the highway is looked after. Big corporations should be required to invest in the local community to be able to build ...
