... t believe how bad it smelled but was still ready to give it a try. John came home and as soon as he walked through the door asked what that terrible smell was. We tasted it and threw it out. ... three girls went off for a drive - went off the freeway and found ourselves in real banjo territory just south of Vicksburg! There was one town which had 9 Churches in a block and a half radius - not sure where the people are to support so many but they must be somewhere - the south is a very religious area.

Woke up early so we could get out of the world's worst hotel as soon as possible! Eight hours in there was enough - we pulled out of there by 0730 - a very early start for us!

Drove for about an hour and stopped at a gas station for breakfast - the Shady Nook - rewind your life about forty years and you got it! The food was pretty good though!

... an old ironclad battleship The Cairo sunk in the Yazoo River in 1863.  Ironclads are quite strange looking ships.  They managed to salvage Cairo (they pronounced it Kay-row) from the silt of the river in the 1960's and they have an interesting display of the ship and relics.
