      ... the rain got heavier. This town is on the bucket list for next time.
      Rained all day and we mostly stayed on back roads instead of the interstate for the first half. Once we realized that the rain was not going to let up we hopped on the interstate and headed south towards Dallas.

      Finally in 2013 a statue of Dixon Durant is placed I in the historic downtown of Durant ! Met some great people in town. After Durant we went to the Choctaw council house in Tuskahoma...more interesting people! Then drove to Poteau..funny ...

      ... south. Oklahoma is the 14th State we have passed through and is very noticeably drier than any others apart from California. The lush forests and beautiful farms have given way to scrubby, rough country with very few crops and minimal stock to be seen, although apparently they have upwards of 40 inches (1000mm) of rain here.       ... her car and said she was lost, so Bill pulled out his campground map and gave her directions back to the campground and her campsite. Ten minutes later she drove by us again.... still lost. We asked if we could ride back with her, then we could help locate her daughter's RV. Whew, my prayers were answered!       ... I owned and shoved them inside the blinds as best as i could. It was a sloppy pain in the ass, but it worked enough to get me to sleep...for about 3 hours until I was woken by police sirens outside my window. Apparently some underage drunk kid plowed a car into another car at the stoplight. We were unable to leave the parking lot for over an hour. Ive never been so happy to leave a state line as I was then....
      Next time, ill take my chances and sleep at the nearest truck ...
