“Nice hotel”

The Magnisima Hotel is in the new (er) part of town within walking distance from the old town and with a secure parking lot in the rear. The room (#7) is very spacious and tastefully furnished. The street misses a couple of light poles, so gets a little dark at night when walking back, but didnt feel unsafe to me. From the hotel to old town takes around 15 minutes on foot. Most of the way is a shopping street.

The Curonian Spit is a narrow piece of land, not more than a few kilometres wide at any point, stretching from Lithuania all the way to the Russian state of Kalingrad. On the western side, if you climb to the top of the massive dunes you can see the crashing waves of the Baltic Sea, and if you follow the path through the forest to ...

... is perfect for a two day ride. I decided to do the full Klaipeda to Nida route which travels the entire length of the Lithuanian side - 52 km each way.

Early in the next morning I rented a bike (35 Lt) and boarded a ferry. The ferry left from an original ferry terminal (there is now a new and improved terminal further down the spit. The ferry ride only lasted about 5 minutes and then I was on the ...
