... I needed to be – the LP map shows the airport to be 6km away
but took over an hour, standing up the whole way.

Was hot (in my jeans) and tired, despite my kilo of buffet
lunch – the ordeal with the buses and shopping the 4 floors of the market took
it out of me so treated myself to a taxi back. For once, happy to get back into
      a/c.

I think I'm still recovering from having written so much in the last blog so this one is going to be short and sweet. After waiting in the airport and attempting to sleep on the floor we finally boarded out flight from Manaus to Fortaleza at about 2am. This got us to Fortaleza for about 6am on a Sunday morning. After faffing around for hours working out which bus to catch etc and waiting for hours because it was a Sunday morning we arrived at ...

New place new friends. Fortaleza was cool because right when I got there we went out. Some Chileans brought a big bottle of pisco and before you know it we all were riding happy on the way to pink elephant. It's a popular expensive night club they have here in Brazil. Anyways the next several days it was pretty much the same. Fortaleza to me seems a little rough and unsafe. I'll admit I had a good time here and my portuguese is getting ...

... as the Mexicans took the game to them and dominated the first half. After the crushing defeat of Spain, footballistas were excited that the Dutch has rediscovered their “Total Football” playbook. Since then and on this day, the evidence was that they had reverted to a much more dour approach, thankfully without the thuggish
behaviour of their last World Cup Final. The bright spot for me in this Dutch performance
was the selfless work of Dirk ...

... crowds die down then we headed back to Savassi for a few drinks and to watch the Columbia game. A real melting pot of fans and lots of good humoured, self deprecating chants from the England contingent there. Late that evening we made our way to the airport and caught a flight to Fortaleza - chasing some sunshine and also Second Round tickets. We landed in Fortaleza at 1.30 in the morning and were met by our driver taking us to the small fishing village of ...
